A rope brake for an elevator installation for braking a rope coupled to a car is provided, which has a stop that is immovable in the longitudinal direction of the rope and at least one brake shoe. The rope is led between the stop and the brake shoe, and the brake shoe is adapted to be moved back and forth between a braking position, pressing the rope against the stop, and a release position, releasing the rope. A drive coupled to the brake shoe is provided for releasing the rope. The drive is formed as a linear drive and the at least one brake shoe can be transferred by means of the linear drive into its release position against the action of a braking force acting on it in the braking position. Methods for testing a rope brake for an elevator car having a movable brake shoe are also provided.

Rope brake

A rope brake for an elevator installation for braking a rope coupled to a car is provided, which has a stop that is immovable in the longitudinal direction of the rope and at least one brake shoe. The rope is led between the stop and the brake shoe, and the brake shoe is adapted to be moved back and forth between a braking position, pressing the rope against the stop, and a release position, releasing the rope. A drive coupled to the brake shoe is provided for releasing the rope. The drive is formed as a linear drive and the at least one brake shoe can be transferred by means of the linear drive into its release position against the action of a braking force acting on it in the braking position.

The invention relates to an elevator system with at least one shaft, in which at least two cars can be made to travel along a common traveling path, and also with a shaft information system for determining the positions and speeds of the cars, which is connected to an electrical safety device. In order to develop the elevator system in such a way that a high handling capacity can be achieved with constructionally simple means, while reliably preventing car collisions, it is proposed according to the invention that an emergency stop of at least one car is triggerable independently of the control units by means of the safety device if the distance between a first car and a second car or an end of the traveling path goes below a preselectable critical distance, and that the safety gear of at least one car is triggerable if the distance which this car assumes from the neighboring car or an end of the traveling path goes below a preselected minimum distance, the control units of at least all the cars of one traveling path being connected to one another and altogether forming a group control device.

Elevator system

An elevator installation with at least one shaft having a plurality of shaft doors is provided. At least two cars disposed one above the other travel up and down in the shaft. Each car has at least one car door. A safety device is provided for blocking the travel of the cars when the shaft doors or car doors are open. The safety device has at least two independent safety circuits, each having at least one shaft door and/or car door associated with it. Travel of at least one car can be blocked by means of the safety circuits.

Elevator control having independent safety circuits

An elevator system is provided for the transport of loads and/or persons in an elevator shaft. At least two elevator cars can be moved in the elevator shaft and are connected to a counterweight. A drive is associated with each car. At least one common track section and, in addition, separate track sections arranged next to one another are associated with at least two cars. The common track section and the separate track sections are arranged in sections along the elevator shaft. The cars can be moved not only in the same direction but also in directions opposite to one another.
