A detection device with a gas detector element for analyzing pressurized gases contained in a reservoir by sampling while the pressure is reduced. A coupling means is provided for connecting the detector to a reservoir. Ease of handling is facilitated in the routine operation by providing a time-keeping device determining the duration of the sampling flow set at a preselected value. A switch starts the time-keeping device, and the switch is actuated at least at the time of the coupling of the detector to the reservoir.

A respirator with an eye space (16), through which the air to be inhaled flows, and with an indicator located on a support for indicating the efficiency of the protective device on the respiration connection, which is to retain the pollutant from the environment. The pollutant indication takes place both in the case of leakages at the sealing zones of the mask or the respiration gas-carrying lines (compressed air respirator) and in the case of insufficient filter effect. To achieve this, the support (10) is arranged on an inner half mask (3) of the respirator, and an access surface, which is exposed to the pollutant and contains the indicator (18, 118), is in flow contact with the air being inhaled, which flows through the passage openings (12, 112) between the eye space (16) of the full mask (1) and the inner half mask space (4).

The invention is directed to an arrangement for measuring the concentration of gaseous or vaporous components of a gas mixture by using optically distinguishable reaction zones from gas test tubes which contain a substance reacting with the component to be detected. The change of the reaction zone is determined by means of direct observation and/or by means of an opto-electronic scanning device. This arrangement is improved in accordance with the invention in that the reacting substance is accommodated at least in one channel formed in a carrier. The channel has a cross section in the reaction zone which is less than 1 mm.sup.2.

The invention is directed to an arrangement for detecting gaseous components in air wherein an air pumping device pumps a sample quantity through the testing tube. The air pumping device includes a receiver for the testing tube and the charge in the testing tube is evaluated. The arrangement is improved in that the detection of different components with the corresponding testing tubes is conducted automatically in that the data characteristic for the measurement is automatically considered and processed to a display of the measured values. For the measurement of gas, vapor, or aerosol fractions of a measured gas, the fraction to be determined is absorbed in a reaction solution, and a change of resistance from a reaction between the fraction and the reaction solution is determined as the measured variable by an ohmmeter, using electrodes in the reaction solution. The measured gas entering a test container through a sealing unit tight to the reaction solution and passing the medium to be determined, is improved with regard to all-purpose use and convenient measurement. This is done pursuant to the invention by placing the reaction solution in a disposable test container that can be inserted or connected interchangeably to the measuring device which has electrodes. The invention relates to a colorimetric dosimeter including an indicator housing openable at one end and having a wall defining an interior space extending along the length thereof. The housing is partitioned into a first portion starting at the one end and a second portion following behind the first portion. A strip indicator defines a high-sensitivity region and is disposed in the first portion so as to conjointly define a clear through diffusion passage with the wall which extends to the second portion. A granular indicator defining a low-sensitivity region is disposed in the second portion.

The invention is directed to a gas measuring device having a pretreatment device for converting the gas to be detected into a substance indicatable via a colorimetric indicator. A diffusion sampler includes a vessel which has at least one inlet opening exposed to the gas to be investigated and which has a moderating zone. In its interior, the vessel has a collecting region provided with a collecting medium as well as a conversion region for converting the gas into substances which can be taken up by the collecting medium. The diffusion sample is improved in that its detection sensitivity is increased and that the collecting region as well as the converting region are provided with large areas in a manner adapted to the geometry of the vessel so that a smaller and more manipulable configuration is obtained. In addition, long-term dosimetry is made possible. For this purpose, the moderating zone is configured as a permeable barrier from which the converting region as well as the collecting region extend and determine the diffusion path in the entire interior of the vessel with each region being applied to a carrier.

A test tube with several reagent layers affecting the detection reaction, which are separated from one another by means of a permeable interlayer, is improved so that an undesired exchange of reaction products or reagents between the layers is prevented during the measurement process and also during the dwell time, i.e. before and after the measurement.
