A two-for-one twisting or cabling spindle apparatus () with a supply bobbin () mounted on a pot base () of a stationary protective pot () and a spindle () arranged below the protective pot () to guide a yarn () to be processed during a twisting or cabling process. The spindle () is rotatably mounted by a lower bearing device () in a bearing housing () fixed on a spindle rail () and an upper bearing device () mounted to the stationary protective pot (). The largest diameter (d) of the rotatably mounted spindle () is at least 10% less than the diameter (D) of a touching line () of the pot base () of the stationary protective pot () with the yarn ().

Method for operating a two-for-one twisting or cabling machine () with multiple workstations (), each equipped with at least two feed bobbins (), one feed bobbin () being creeled on a spindle () of the workstation () and at least one further feed bobbin () being creeled on a creeling device () associated with the workstation (). The yarns () of the feed bobbins () are guided together in a balloon yarn guide () and cabled, and the cabled yarn is wound to form a take-up bobbin (). Wind-on device for workstations of two-for-one twisters and ply twisters with a take-up bobbin, a drive shaft extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine, a friction roller which is driven by the drive shaft and causes the take-up bobbin to make a rotational movement, and a driven advance roller positioned upstream of the friction roller in the yarn run. A device for stopping a spindle of a textile machine driven by a drive belt has a roller for removing the drive belt from contact with the spindle whorl of the spindle. The roller is movable from a rest position, in which the roller is disengaged from the drive belt, into an engaged position in which the roller engages the drive belt and moves the drive belt away from the spindle whorl. A brake device for braking the spindle whorl is provided. A support member on which the roller rests in its rest position so as to be vibration-dampened is connected to the support of the textile machine.

A multi-station textile machine, especially a double twisting machine or cabling machine, has spool containers arranged adjacent to one another in rows for receiving feed spools. A guide rail of a continuously or intermittently driven endless conveyor extends about the periphery of the machine frame in close contact therewith and has spool holders for conveying the feed spools. The lowermost position of the feed spools conveyed by the spool holders defines a horizontal plane which is substantially at the same level as the plane defined by the upper side of the spool containers. The spool holders are spaced apart from one another by a distance which is three to eight times the distance between neighboring spool containers.

A two-for-one twisting spindle with a compressed air operated threading device is provided. The thread is feed via a jet of compressed air through a thread feeding channel of a thread storage disk. At the outer opening of the thread feeding channel a first deflecting surface is provided which is attached to the underside of the turntable. The first deflecting surface is provided with a upwardly curved second deflecting surface which is essentially convex. These constructive measures at the outer opening of the thread feeding channel ensure that the jet of compressed air exiting from the outer opening of the thread feeding channel has a certain vertical width h and that the radius of curvature R of the second deflecting surface is such that the ratio of the radius of curvature to the width h corresponds to R/h.gtoreq.3. This ensures that the jet of compressed air is deflected in an upward direction essentially vertically with the aid of the so-called Coanda effect.

A device for conveying full and empty bobbins between multi-position textile machines of different finishing stages is comprised of an endless conveying rail and an endless, driven conveying element. The endless conveying rail is common to all of the multi-position textile machines of different finishing stages, whereby at least two multi-position textile machines are connected by the endless conveying rail. The conveying element is connected to the endless conveying rail and comprises carriers for conveying the full and empty bobbins, the carriers being movable along the conveying rail.

A bobbin transfer apparatus simultaneously transfers consecutive individual adapters having at least one fully wound bobbin of yarn thereon and consecutive individual adapters having at least one substantially empty bobbin of yarn thereon between a yarn bobbin winding machine adjacent the transfer apparatus and a bobbin suspension transporting mechanism positioned over the transfer apparatus for consecutively moving full bobbins from the transfer apparatus to a yarn processing machine and returning substantially empty bobbins therefrom to the transfer apparatus. The transfer apparatus includes a conveying device for consecutively conveying the individual adapters in a generally vertical position through a closed path of travel. The transfer apparatus also includes three work stations positioned in the path of travel of the conveying device and in which devices are provided in the first work station for moving upwardly to carry an adapter with a full bobbin thereon from the transfer apparatus to the transporting mechanism and to receive an adapter with a substantially empty bobbin thereon from the transporting mechanism and carry the same to the transfer apparatus. The second and third work stations provide devices for, preferably simultaneously, consecutively removing the empty bobbins from the adapters and mounting fully wound bobbins from the winding machine on the empty adapters for return to the first work station to be conveyed to the transporting apparatus.

An improved yarn reserve disc having an annular rim of a radial length of at least 7 mm extending radially outwardly from a lower portion of an outer, circumferential, yarn storage surface thereon in a spindle assembly of a two-for-one twister textile yarn processing machine. The annular rim prevents coils of yarn wrapped around such yarn reserve disc, upon breakage of the yarn during processing by the spindle assembly, from slipping down off of the yarn storage disc to interfere with subsequent driving of the spindle assembly.
