A cathode HAS a cathode head in which a surface emitter is arranged that emits electrons upon application of a heating voltage. The surface emitter is fashioned as a parallel surface emitter with at least two emitter surfaces spaced apart from one another, to which at least one electrically conductive cutoff electrode is fed that is galvanically separated from the parallel surface emitter. Such a cathode has a good cutoff capability.

A cathode has a cathode head in which is arranged a surface emitter is arranged that emits electrons upon the application of a heating voltage. At least one electrically conductive barrier plate that is galvanically separated from the surface emitter extends up to the surface emitter. This cathode has a longer lifespan, a high electron emission and a good blocking capability.

For reducing of the weight of leakage x-ray radiation shielding for a rotary piston x-ray tube that rotates in a cooling medium in a radiator housing of an x-ray radiator, the rotary piston x-ray tube having a rotary anode and a cathode fixedly connected with the vacuum housing thereof, the vacuum housing has at least one first region of a total shielding and the radiator housing has at least a second region of the total shielding. Only the respective regions of the vacuum housing and the radiator housing has that are irradiated by the leakage x-ray radiation are provided with shielding.

In an expansion device for an x-ray apparatus, in particular with a rotary piston x-ray tube with a sealed coolant and/or insulation volume under a minimum pressure and pressing with this minimum pressure against an elastic pressure element, an elastic pressure element with a linear force-displacement characteristic curve (in particular in the form of a gas pressure spring with a linear elastic characteristic curve) is provided to prevent an excessive pressure load given a temperature rise.

An X-ray source has an evacuated housing containing an interior space and a housing projection having a projection interior communicating with the interior space. A cathode is mounted in the projection interior and an anode is mounted in the interior space. Two tubes proceed substantially parallel to each other through the projection and are sealed relative to the projection interior, the two tubes being disposed on opposite sides of an electron beam that proceeds from the cathode to the anode during operation of the X-ray source. An electromagnetic electron beam deflector has a U-shape with two legs that are respectively disposed in the tubes. The electron beam deflector is controllable to generate a magnetic field that deflects the electron beam to set a position of the focus on the anode.

A rotating anode for an x-ray tube has an anode body composed of composite fiber material, mounted in a bearing system, the anode body having a target surface with a focal ring and including fibers with particularly high heat conductivity in the longitudinal direction. An axis-proximal cooling system is associated with the anode body. The majority of all fibers with high heat conductivity in the longitudinal direction terminate bluntly both at the focal ring and at the cooling system, such that their abutting faces respectively are in direct, heat-conducting contact both with the focal ring and with the cooling system.

A rotating anode X-ray tube suitable for use in CT installations has a vacuum housing in which a cathode that emits electron beams is rigidly arranged and in which an anode that emits X-rays is rotatably arranged. The anode is arranged at a rotary body that, facing toward the cathode, has a focal path composed of target material that melts during operation of the tube. The rotary body is designed so that the melting target material is held to the anode due to the centrifugal forces of the rotary body when rotating around the cathode.

A rotating bulb x-ray radiator has an x-ray tube accepted in a housing filled with a coolant, the x-ray tube being torsionally connected to the housing and being mounted so as to be rotatable together therewith. The housing is at least partially formed of a material that is highly attenuating for x-rays.

The invention is directed to a bearing for the rotating anode of an x-ray tube comprising at least one rolling bearing suitable for absorbing axial forces which is loaded with an axially directed force for suppressing the bearing play. Magnets are provided which generate the axially directed force in non-contacting fashion.
