A method for verifying a speaker by a computer is specified in which the speaker utters at least one code word consisting of a random combination of syllable units previously supplied by the speaker. A comparison of this uttered code word with at least one pattern verifies the speaker if the at least one pattern matches the uttered code word with a predetermined minimum quality. The code word is designed in such a manner that it has at least two syllable units, at least one syllable unit being a component of a further code word.

A multimodal biometric method is provided for authenticating at least one user, in which at least one user is assigned to one of at least two classes, in which similarity measures are used that are measures of the similarity of biometric data, determined for the user, to reference data for one of the classes, in which a overall statistical statement on the user's membership of the class is present for each of the at least two classes as a function of the similarity measure, in which the overall statistical statement for each of the at least two classes results from the combination of the statistical statements of at least two individual biometries for the respective class, the statistical statements of the individual biometries being statistical statements on the user's membership of the class as a function of the similarity measures, and in which the user is assigned to one of at least two classes when a specific assignment criterion is fulfilled.

Multimodal biometry

A system for recognizing individually spoken words includes an acousto-electric transducer with a controllable amplifier and a high-pass filter connected to a level calculation path for calculating the level of the output signal by detecting the signal envelope and converting the envelope signal to a 1-bit digital signal to be supplied to a microprocessor. A signal analysis path is also connected to the transducer and includes a low-pass filter followed by a 1-bit analog to digital converter and a digital processing unit which supplies data units to the microprocessor. Individually spoken words are recognized and actions taken accordingly.
