The headlight, especially for a motor vehicle, includes at least two separately adjustable reflectors and a reflector height adjusting mechanism for adjusting the reflector heights separately or synchronously. The reflectors include a first reflector for high beam light and/or fog light and a second reflector associated with a low beam light module. The reflector height adjusting device includes separate adjusting devices for individually adjusting the respective heights for the at least two separately adjustable reflectors and a coupling member for the separate adjusting devices. When the separate adjusting devices are put in a coupled state by the coupling member the heights of the at least two reflectors are synchronously adjusted by operation of only one of the separate adjusting devices. The method for adjusting light radiated from the headlight includes performing a pre-adjustment in which each of the reflectors is separately adjusted by the separate adjusting devices. The coupling member couples the separate adjusting devices and the reflectors are then synchronously adjusted by operation of only one adjusting device.

A headlight for a motor vehicle, having a light module, at least one reflector, the module having at least one holding frame which is turnable about two axes extending substantially perpendicularly to one another in a plan parallel to a light outlet plan of the light module, the axis intersecting one another and having an intersecting point located inside the light module.

The headlight for a self-propelled vehicle includes a pivotable reflector (12) having a reflector pivot axis (20), a holder (10) for the reflector (12) and a compact mechanism for pivoting the reflector (12) relative to the holder (10) to adjust the orientation of the reflector. This compact adjusting mechanism for the reflector includes an adjusting element (26) having a ball end (30) and eccentrically engaged with the reflector (12) relative to the reflector pivot axis (20) and a compact double-jointed pivot joint for pivotally connecting the adjusting element (26) with the reflector (12). This compact double-jointed pivot joint includes a pivot joint mount (36) provided with a spherical receptacle (42), a socket insert (50) having a spherical-segment-shaped outer section (52) pivotally engaged in the spherical receptacle (42) of the pivot joint mount (36). The socket insert (50) has a ball socket (54) in which the ball end (30) of the adjusting element (26) is engaged so that the adjusting element (26) is pivotally connected with the socket insert (50). The ball socket (54) of the socket insert (50) is closer to the reflector (12) than the spherical receptacle (42).

A head lamp for motor vehicle comprising a reflector, an adjusting member for adjusting a reflector position, and an assembly for connecting the adjusting member with the reflector and including a socket that receives a ball portion formed at an end of the adjusting member, and has a hair pin-shaped resilient portion which extends through a sleeve body defined by a reflector connecting portion, and includes an outer surface complementary to a guide surface defined by an inner surface of the sleeve body, and an end having a shoulder thereat that engages a shoulder formed on an end portion of the sleeve body, in the end position of the socket.

Head lamp for motor vehicles

A reflector, made from a thermosetting plastic, has three tightening faces on its crown neck that act as a catch, into which three protrusions, such as pawls, dig in a thread-like manner with teeth of the ring. As a result, the ring secures an incandescent bulb in the reflector. By means of this unilaterally acting friction catch, lateral slides, in particular, become unnecessary on an injection holder of the reflector, which is a considerable advantage in the processing of thermosetting plastics.
