A switching device for direct-current applications includes a housing having a first wall and a second wall, a plurality of receiving areas for respective mutually substantially parallel current paths disposed in the housing. Each of the current paths has a respective stationary switching contact element and a respective movable switching contact element, the movable switching element being actuatable into a closed position and into an open position so as to form a respective air break, the respective movable switching contact elements being actuatable simultaneously. The switching device includes a plurality of arc-quenching devices associated with the current paths and disposed next to each other, and at least one magnet. The at least one magnet is configured to generate a magnetic field so as to generate a deflection force on the arcs so as to deflect the respective arcs toward at least one of the respective arc-quenching devices.

A contactor includes a housing lower section housing a solenoid mechanism, a main contact and a housing upper section, for housing main terminals and a connector module including control terminals which may be connected to the solenoid coil of the solenoid mechanism. The housing upper section includes a recessed step to the front of a housing side, in which the connector module may be fixed. The control terminals are located facing the housing front in front of the plane of the main terminals. Connector lines extending into the main housing from the connector module connect the control terminals to the control pins, connected to the solenoid coil and located in the housing lower section.

An electrodynamically tilting contact system for power circuit breakers includes an actuating shaft segment, a rotary contact bridge pivotally mounted therein and contact force springs that form components of a tilting snap-action mechanism, which holds the rotary contact bridge in a repulsed position after an electrodynamically effected repulsion of fixed contacts. Two rockers, while serving as an additional component of the tilting snap-action mechanism, are mounted on the rotary contact bridge in a manner that enables them to tilt. The contact force springs are supported between the actuating shaft segment and the rockers, whereby the spring longitudinal axes, the tilting axes of the rockers, and the rotational symmetry axis of the rotary contact bridge are located in the tilting point plane of the tilting snap-action mechanism. The rotary contact bridge is mounted in the actuating shaft segment via a bearing pin and an elongated hole bearing whose longitudinal axis, together with the tilting point plane, forms an, at most, acute angle perpendicular to the bearing pin.

Electrodynamically tilting contact system for power circuit breakers

An arrangement used to fix conductor rails for multi-phase switchgears to allow for mounting and dismantling the conductor rails in a simple manner is provided. The switchgear housing () comprises straight guide elements () which are used to receive the mounting position using the conductor rails (). Each conductor rail () includes a continuous bore () which is covered by a receiving bore () when in a mounted position, the receiving bore being formed in the switchgear housing (). Insertion journals () extend through the continuous bores () into the receiving bores () associated therewith and are combined with a connecting web () in order to form an insertion comb () made of an insulating material.

Arrangement used to fix conductor rails for multi-phase switchgears

A self-recovering current-limiting device with a liquid metal includes a first and a second electrode for connection to an electric circuit to be protected. Each of the first and second electrodes are made of a solid metal. A plurality of pressure-resistant insulating bodies is provided, as well as a plurality of insulating intermediate walls supported by the insulating bodies. The plurality of insulating intermediate walls and the plurality of pressure-resistant insulating bodies define a plurality of compression spaces, and the plurality of insulating intermediate walls define a plurality of connecting channels. The plurality of compression spaces are disposed one behind the other between the first and second electrodes and are at least partially filled with the liquid metal. A first connecting conductor connected to the first electrode and disposed below the plurality of compression spaces and having an inverse current direction is provided, as well as a ferromagnetic body disposed above the plurality of compression spaces.

The invention relates to a self-recovering current-limiting device with liquid metal. The device contains two solid metal electrodes ( ) which are rotationally symmetrical in relation to the longitudinal axis ( ) of the current limiting device ( ) and several compression chambers ( ) which are partially filled with liquid metal ( ) and arranged in a series between the electrodes ( ). The compression chambers are formed by pressure-resistant insulating bodies ( ) and insulating intermediate walls ( ) which are supported by the same ( ) and which have several connecting channels ( ), distributed in a circular form. The aim of the invention is to extend the positions of use. To this end, the electrodes ( ) have cavities ( ) which are connected to the adjacent compression chambers ( ) by openings ( ) and which are adequately wetted to completely filled with the liquid metal ( ), according to the position of use.

To adjust the current limiting device to a desired nominal current factor, the level of the liquid metal above the connecting channels can be modified using an adjusting device. A reservoir is connected to the adjusting device, which can be adjusted and fixed in place externally.

Several compressor cavities which are partially filled with the liquid metal are situated one behind the other between the electrodes. The compressor cavities are formed by pressure-proof insulating bodies and by insulating intermediate walls which are provided with connecting channels and which are held by the insulating bodies. The insulating bodies and the intermediate walls form a uniform upper and lower half shell with opposite-lying joining surfaces. The half shells are connected in a sealed manner along joining surfaces in the area of a common middle plane of the connecting channels. Up to half of each of the electrodes is accommodated in corresponding recesses of the half shells, the electrodes extending with their respective middle limb out of the half shells.

A self-recovering current-limiting device having liquid metal includes solid metal electrodes for connecting to an external electric circuit to be protected. A plurality of compression spaces which are partially filled with liquid metal are arranged one behind the other between the electrodes and are formed by pressure-resistant insulating bodies and by insulating partitioning walls having connecting channels. An enclosing insulating shaped housing is provided having a trough-like bottom part and a cover that tightly closes the bottom part via a non-positive and/or positive connecting device. The partitioning walls and the bottom part are interconnected as one piece. The connecting channels are configured as longitudinal holes which are open at the top. The electrodes are mounted in the bottom part. The nominal current range of the device may be easily adjusted.

Self-recovering current-limiting device having liquid metal

A self-regenerating current limiter with liquid metal includes solid metal electrodes for connection of the current limiter to an electric circuit to be protected. A plurality of compression chambers that are partially filled with liquid metal are located one behind the other between the electrodes. The compression chambers are formed by compression-proof insulating bodies and insulating partition walls that have communicating channels and that are supported by the insulating bodies. Non-conductive ceramic disks are mounted on the inner surfaces of the electrodes. The disks are located opposite the communicating channels of the adjacent partition walls.

Self-regenerating current limter with liquid metal

A self-regenerating liquid metal current limiter including solid metal electrodes for connection to an electric circuit to be protected and several compression chambers which are partially filled with liquid metal. The compression chambers are located one behind the other between the electrodes and are formed by pressure-resistant insulating bodies and by partition walls with connecting channels that are supported by the insulating bodies. The partition walls are provided with a plurality of connecting channels that are not arranged in a generally concent arrangement with respect to a substantially horizontal longitudinal axis of the current limiter, the axis extending in a direction perpendicular to the partition walls. The current limiter provides for various positions of use corresponding to a position of rotation of the current limiter about its longitudinal axis.

Self-regenerating liquid metal current limiter

An electrical switching device such as a low voltage power circuit breaker, can have a cover with a slot-like opening for providing access to a switch lever of the switching device. The cover can extend to cover over any chambers for shunt releases and/or auxiliary switches etc. which chambers can be located on both sides of the switch lever within the enclosure. The cover can also have fastening devices for attachment of a mechanical rotary actuator or a motor drive. The cover is connected to the enclosure in a manner which provides for a simple opening and closing of the cover, and essentially eliminates the danger of losing and mixing up such covers. The cover is designed with bearing legs which are bent at an angle of 90 degrees in relation to the cover plane. The bearing legs are preferably parallel to one another and laterally overlap the enclosure. The cover is mounted to the enclosure by means of the bearing legs and pivot bearing with coaxially interlocking pivots and pivot bearing openings.
