In the rectifier station (GR), the reference d-c current (J.sub.w) is automatically formed from the differences of a reference current-dependent control angle function and the current controller-dependent control angle (A) on the rectifier side, where the actual d-c current (J.sub.d) is termined by the power-dependent bucking voltage in the inverter state (WR), and that in the latter the difference of the actual d-c current (J.sub.d) and a reference d-c current obtained from the reference power (P.sub.W) through division by the actual d-c voltage (U.sub.d) influences a controller which sets the reference d-c current for the voltage controller (UR) in the inverter station (WR).

Method and arrangement for controlling a high voltage d-c transmission

Upon the occurrence of a change of an a.c. voltage amplitude of an a.c. power network line in one station A, a computing element generates a first pilot control variable by means of which the control angle of the respective static converter is shifted in terms of a reduction of its d.c. output voltage. In the other station a voltage correction regulator generates a correction variable by compensating the voltage drop in the HVDC transmission line, by means of which the control voltage of the respective static converter is corrected, which, for example, is generated by a pilot control voltage and the output signal of a marginal current or extinction angle regulator. Thus, even in case of an a.c. power network fault-induced voltage dip of the HVDC voltage, a preset value can be maintained for the HVDC current and the voltage dip in the power transmission be reduced. This procedure is independent of which station is operated as rectifier and which as inverter.

A method and apparatus are described for operating a high voltage d.c. (HVDC) transmission line system connecting two a.c. transmission line systems during normal operation and during malfunction in either the rectifier station or the inverter station of the HVDC system. When a malfunction exists in one station of a HVDC transmission line, such as a rectifier station, then the regular thyristor firings are disabled and a bypass circuit, preferrably one or several bridge paths of a converter, are fired. As soon as a corresponding change in the current or voltage occurs at the d.c. voltage connections of the other station, this station assumes rectifier operation during which the HVDC transmission line is utilized as a reactive load to stabilize the other system. Once the malfunction has ceased to exist, operation is first resumed in the first station by extinguishing the bypass thyristors and subsequently resumed also in the other station. This procedure permits stable normal operation in both stations, or bypass operation without using remote control signals during which the HVDC transmission line can be rapidly controlled to stabilize the systems.

The input signal corresponding to the respective frequency or power variation is supplied both to the inputs of the discrete filters and to angle measuring devices assigned to them, of which only the tuned filter in conjunction with its angle measuring device actuates a switch which sends the filter output via angle rotating and matching elements to a MAX selector element, from which the supplementary damping signal for the excitation is tapped. For low oscillation frequencies a low-press filter is provided which, via mean value formers and time delay multivibrator stages, permits a regulator signal to become operative for the excitation, delayed or undelayed, when certain limit values are exceeded.

Circuit arrangement for damping power oscillations of synchronous

A circuit for damping hunting oscillations of controlled electric machines. The circuit is provided with a measuring circuit for determining the hunting oscillations and an identifier circuit for determining the angle components of such hunting oscillations. A phase shifter circuit is provided for receiving the angle components produced by the identifier circuit and forming a hunting oscillation correction signal which is shifted in phase from the hunting oscillations by a predetermined phase angle. The hunting oscillation correction signal is conducted to a control unit of the electric machine. The invention is particularly useful in damping hunting by the rotors of voltage controlled synchronous generators.

Circuit for damping hunting by electric machines

A circuit for controlling the voltage of a network which supplies electrical power to a load having a rapidly varying impedance. The circuit contains a pair of controlled electric valves which are connected in parallel between two conductors of the network and poled for condition in opposite directions. A voltage transformer produces a signal corresponding to the network voltage, which signal is conducted to an integrator and subsequently compared to a preset mean value. The preset mean value corresponds to a desired amplitude at which the positive and negative half-wave cycles of the network voltage are desired to be maintained. In one embodiment, the controlled electric valves are caused to conduct current during respective half-waves of network voltage so as to maintain the amplitudes of the half-waves at the present mean value. Other features are described for compensating for long term drift of the network voltage and for controlling the controlled electric valves by means of logic circuitry.

Voltage compensation for an A-C network supplying a rapidly-changing load

A circuit arrangement, for deriving, from sensed power variations in a network, a signal for supplying the exciter of at least one synchronous machine coupled to the network, includes first and second vector identifiers, each providing a direct and phase-shifted output with each of the outputs coupled through an impedance matching amplifier to a summing junction. The direct signal from the first vector identifier and phase-shifted signal from the second vector identifier are conducted to one summing junction and the phase-shifted output of the first vector identifier and direct output of the second vector identifier to a second summing junction, with the outputs of the two summing junctions summed at a further summing junction after being coupled through additional impedance matching amplifiers to result in a total signal at the output of the third summing junction which varies in a mathematically positive sense with increasing oscillation frequency.

Circuit arrangement for attenuation of power oscillations in networks

A six-pulse rectifier circuit includes a rectifier bridge, with six valves, arranged in the secondary circuit of a three phase transformer having an increased internal resistance and shunted by a load resistor arrangement for sensing the actual value voltage for use in a fast control device with the resistance of the load resistor arrangement matched to the increased internal resistance of the transformer, so that at least three but no more than four of the six valves are always commutating.
