The invention relates to a piece of sports equipment which is subject to a shock-like load. In a piece of sports equipment in accordance with the invention, an elongated support element is present which is at least regionally inwardly hollow. It can, for example, be an at least almost complete baseball bat or also only a part region at which a handle of a piece of sports equipment is present. At least one hollow space in which metallic and/or ceramic hollow bodies are present is present in the support element. In the piece of sports equipment, the support element can form the outer skin or at least a part thereof.

Composite adsorbent beads have a porous and non-adsorbent core comprising at least one inorganic material and a porous and adsorbent shell comprising at least one adsorbent layer comprising a porous adsorbent material on the surface of the core. The core preferably comprises agglomerated inorganic particles having a mean particle size equal to or smaller than the mean particle size of the surrounding agglomerated adsorbent particles. The beads preferably are manufactured by calcining together a non-sintered core and the adsorbent layer. The beads can be used at the outlet end of an adsorption column to improve performance.

A method is for producing calcinated or sintered hollow bodies comprising a spherical surface, to hollow bodies produced using the method, and to the uses thereof. Calcinated or sintered hollow bodies comprising a spherically curved surface, an enlarged, freely accessible surface and/or a structured surface. An organic spherical carrier is coated with a powder which forms the shell of a hollow body, and a binding agent, both contained in suspension. A heat treatment is then carried out, leading to the expulsion of organic constituents and to the sin-tering process. At least one elevation is arranged on the surface of the carrier or embodied thereon, the projection past the surface corresponding at least to the thickness of the shell of the finished sintered hollow body, taking into account the degree of shrinkage of the powder material during the sintering process. The elevation(s) is/are then removed by conversion into the gas phase of the respective material from which they are formed and/or mechanically, during the heat treatment.
