A method, apparatus and system are for operating an automatic component mounting unit for mounting an electrical component onto a substrate of an electrical assembly. The automatic component mounting unit utilizes a number of different mounting members, such as a head, feeding and sensor members, for mounting a variety of different components. Each of the mounting members includes a data storage device. The automatic component mounting unit also includes a control device for communicating with a data storage device of each of the mounting members for processing an amount of process data that is specific to each of the mounting members and that is generated prior to installation. As a result, the mounting members are readily configured for optimal use upon installation of the mounting members.

Apparatus and system for operating an automatic component mounting unit for mounting components onto a substrate of an electrical assembly

A turret-like insertion head having at least one twisting device for mounting electrical components. The insertion head has a stator, a rotor and an optical measuring device. A plurality of circularly distributed grippers are mounted on the rotor such that the grippers can rotate about a mounting axis. The optical measuring device detects the position of the components held on the grippers, and as a result, a component can be twisted into its approximate mounting position during forward movement of the gripper before making a final position measurement, thereby saving time.

In a conventional method for controlling successive machine processes, a central control unit only communicates the start commands to the individual decentralized control units when the decentralized control unit responsible for a previous machine process has communicated an end message to the central control unit. As a result of overloading the central control unit with other, a time delay arises between the individual process steps. In the method disclosed herein, the central control unit communicates a preparatory command for a second machine process to the decentralized second control unit during the execution of a first machine process together with a start condition. The second machine process is only started when the second control unit receives a completion signal directly from the first control unit to satisfy the start condition.

A torque-dependent, mechanical pressure-exerting device for friction gears with a planet wheel, particularly for steplessly adjustable gears, wherein for each direction of rotation, the torque between the drive shaft and the planet wheel is resolved into an approximately radially acting contact pressure and an approximately tangentially acting circumferential force via a pair of curves (cam and counterpart), with one element of the pair of curves disposed on the drive shaft, wherein the other element of the curve pair is disposed on the shaft of the planet wheel.
