A bearing having two rows of rolling elements has a flange extending outwardly from its outer ring. The flange is affixed to a facing surface inside of an aluminum housing, with a portion of the outer ring extending, with a play fit, in a bore of the housing.

Bearing for the shaft of a machine element

A clutch has a bearing adapted to be axially movable by means of an actuating member, so that the bearing can move into and out of engagement with a clutch lever, such as a diaphragm spring or cup-spring. A ring of vibration damping material is mounted on either the bearing ring or clutch lever to damp the passage of vibration therebetween, and a layer of wear resistant material may be provided on the ring of damping material.

A rotary drilling bit having at least one cutter rotatably supported in a rolling bearing on a trunnion of the drilling bit body. An edge ring is provided with a seal fixed in the bored hole of the rotary cutter between the rollers of the rolling bearing and the drilling bit body which axially guides the rollers in one direction. The edge ring has a machined surface which faces the outside surface of the trunnion defining therebetween a narrow annular gap and the seal consists of at least one radially held seal ring arranged in the annular gap.

Drilling bit

A packing seal for closing the space between a rotating shaft and a stationary machine part is described. A ring is located in an annular slot formed in one of the shaft or machine parts. The ring is tensioned radially on the rotating or on the non-rotating part and axially spaced from the frontal faces of the slot so that a fluid media can be located therebetween. At least one face of the ring has a plurality of arcuate grooves by which the pressure of the fluid medium between the ring and the opposing frontal face of the slot is generated on rotation of said shaft.

Packing seal

In a shaft end bearing, the shaft end has a convex curved friction or sliding surface of revolution, and cooperates with a correspondingly curved concave friction or sliding surface. At least one of these surfaces has grooves inclined to the circumferential direction for effecting the dynamic build-up of fluid lubricant. The grooves are separated into two different annular zones spaced apart by a zone having no grooves and serving as a throttle.

The present invention relates to a self-pressuring radial friction bearing for both directions of rotation of a shaft; the bore surface of the bearing has pumping grooves that are inclined to the circumferential direction, and communicate via one of their ends with a space supplied with lubricant.

Self-pressurizing radial friction bearing

A machine element such as a bearing, has a shaft with a spherical end. The spherical end is formed by a metal ball, such as a ball bearing, the ball being held in a hollow metal cylindrical casing. The casing has an inner diameter substantially equal to the outer diameter of the shaft, and is rigidly fit, for example, by press fitting, over the end of the shaft.

The installation for the drive and for the bearing support of a disc-shaped rotor incorporates a constructional element for the magnetic, and particularly electromagnetic, support and drive, which annularly encompasses the rotor in a ring-like configuration, wherein the magnetic support serves primarily for absorption of the radial forces, and that the installation encompasses an aerostatic and/or aerodynamic bearing support for primarily absorbing or receiving the axial forces, and whose rotating portion forms an integral unit with the rotor.

Drive and bearing support for a disc-shaped rotor

A sliding thrust bearing has one bearing surface separated into a plurality of regions, each of which has a slot extending radially from the circumferential edge thereof. A plurality of grooves extends from each of the opposite sides of the slot, the grooves extending from opposite sides of the slot being inclined in opposite directions with respect to the circumferential direction of the bearing surface. A further bearing surface engages the grooved surface, whereby pressure of a lubricant builds up in the groove to one side of the slot for one direction of relative rotation of the bearing surfaces, and pressure of the lubricant builds up in a groove to the other side of the slot for the opposite direction of relative rotation of the bearing surfaces. The bearing surfaces may be flat or curved.
