The invention relates to so-called fuze damping in projectiles, in particular, those provided with a built-in firing delay. Thus, a projectile () is provided having a rear part () and a fuze (), wherein at least one damping element () is inserted between a fuze base () and the projectile () and/or between a fuze shoulder () and a possible threaded ring (), or similar attachment element. The damping element () is in the form of a disc, ring or pot, and is composed of a material with a lower acoustic impedance than the material of the projectile ().

Firing device

A method for replacing a fuse casing ( ), which is riveted to the casing ( ) of an active component ( ) containing an explosive charge ( ). The new fuse casing ( ) laser-welded to the remaining rivet parts ( ) of the active component casing ( ). Welding filler materials are used to attach the new fuse casing ( ) easily and securely to the active component casing ( ), such that the connection can withstand even high firing accelerations, without this resulting in impermissibly high thermal stress to the explosive charge ( ) in the active component. Welding powders ( ) or welding pastes can be used as welding filler materials, which are inserted into gaps ( ) remaining between the remaining rivet parts ( ) and the bores ( ) in the fuse casing ( ) before the remaining rivet parts ( ) are welded to the fuse casing ( ). Also used are discs ( ) that cover the bore holes ( ) in the fuse casing ( ). The disks are placed onto the frontal faces of the remaining rivet parts ( ) and are welded to these.

Method for replacing a fuse casing

A projectile includes a stabilizing band mounted on a rear projectile portion and having a folded state and a deployed state and a fuze assembly accommodated in the projectile. The fuze assembly includes a firing pin carrier supported for motion parallel to the longitudinal axis of the projectile; a firing pin secured to the firing pin carrier; a slide supported for motion transversely to the projectile axis and having a safety position and a firing position; and a detonator mounted on the slide. The detonator is out of alignment with the firing pin in the safety position of the slide and is in alignment with the firing pin in the firing position of the slide. A force-transmitting component is attached to the stabilizing band and the slide for moving the slide from the safety position into the firing position by a force generated by a motion of the stabilizing band from its folded state into its deployed state.

A projectile includes a fuze assembly which has a firing pin carrier supported for motion parallel to a longitudinal axis of the projectile; a firing pin secured to the firing pin carrier; a slide supported for motion transversely to the projectile longitudinal axis and having a safety position and a firing position; and a detonator mounted on the slide. The detonator is out of alignment with the firing pin in the safety position of the slide and is in alignment with the firing pin in the firing position of the slide. A holding shell is positioned in the projectile and is exposed to a force of an air current during projectile flight for causing the holding shell to fly off the projectile. A force-transmitting component connects the holding shell with the slide for displacing the slide from the safety position into the firing position upon movement of the holding shell away from the projectile.

Air current operated projectile fuze

A fuze mechanism (1) for projectiles, rockets, bomblets and mines which is of the type including a fuze housing (2) and a self-destruct device containing a pyrotechnic delay arrangement (10) and a firing pin (11), with the fuze housing (2) having a side opening (5) for a transversely movable detonator carrier (4) which can be moved out beyond the outer housing contour into the armed position and which contains the pyrotechnic delay arrangement (10) and a fuze detonator (7). To manufacture fuze mechanisms (1) which are simple and free of spin and whose self-destruct devices are additionally provided with a delay time that is as long as possible, the firing pin (11) for the self-destruct mechanism is pivotably fastened to the fuze housing (2) in the region of the side opening (5). Moreover, the detonator carrier (4), on its side facing the opening (5), is provided with a carrier member (12) which is in force-locking contact with the firing pin (11) and which, when the detonator carrier (4) is moved out, pivots the firing pin (11) toward the delay arrangement (10) so that the same is ignited.

A fuze for a bomblet projectile, with the fuze being of the type including a fuze housing, an axially displaceable firing pin mounted in the housing, a slide carrying a detonation charge mounted in the housing and displaceable transverse to the longitudinal direction of the housing between a safety position and an armed position, and spin braking fins pivotally mounted on the exterior of the fuze housing. To provide a further safety measure for the bomblet fuze and to ensure pendulum-free spin braking for safe detonation, the slide is provided with a safety pin and the fuze housing is provided with a corresponding opening such that the safety pin is in operative connection adjacent the opening with a spin braking fin if the latter is not deployed, and thus the slide can be arrested in its safety position. At least two spin braking fins are mounted on holding pins on the fuze housing so that the spin braking fins are pivotal transversely to the longitudinal axis of the projectile and in a direction opposite to the direction of the flow of air caused by spin of the projectile.

Fuze for a bomblet projectile

A large-caliber carrier projectile for transporting a payload, with the projectile including an ejection charge and an ejector plate for ejecting the payload from the carrier projectile over a target area. To overcome the problem of the ejector plate colliding with individual bomblets of the payload, and thus causing considerable interference with proper functioning or premature detonations in the air, the ejector plate is an eccentric center of gravity. Alternatively, the ejector plate may be segmented and composed of at least two separable parts which are separated by the action of centrifugal force after ejection from the carrier projectile.
