In a method and a device for predicting movement trajectories of a vehicle to prevent or reduce the consequences of an imminent collision, in which for predicting the movement trajectories, only those trajectories are considered for which, because of a combination of steering intervention and braking intervention, the forces occurring at the wheels of the vehicle are within the range corresponding to the maximum force transferable from the wheel to the road. Particularly for systems which provide an automatic braking and/or steering intervention for avoiding a collision or reducing the severity of a crash with another object, an automatic braking and/or steering intervention is carried out as a function of the pre-calculated movement trajectories.

Method and device for predicting the travelling trajectories of a motor vehicle

A method and a device for automatically triggering a deceleration of a vehicle so as to prevent a collision with another object. Objects in the range of the vehicle's course being detected using signals of an apparatus for sending and receiving radar signals or lidar signals, or of an apparatus for receiving video signals. An endangerment potential is determined as a function of the objects detected, and when a predefined endangerment potential theshold value, which may be less than the triggering threshold value for the deceleration, is exceeded, the deceleration means of the vehicle are reset to a state in preparation for braking. Furthermore, additional vehicle functions may be carried out when the endangerment potential threshold value is exceeded, whereby passenger safety in this travel situation is enhanced.

Method and device for automatically triggering a deceleration in a motor vehicle

A method and a device for controlling deceleration devices of a vehicle during a braking operation, e.g., a vehicle which is equipped with a sensor for adaptive cruise control. During the braking operation, risk dimensions are determined on the basis of driving dynamics models, which are individualized by signals of the surrounding-field sensor system. A first risk dimension is precalculated for the case of continued deceleration and a second risk dimension is precalculated for the case of unbraked further movement of the vehicle. Through the comparison of the two risk dimensions, it is decided whether the automatic vehicle deceleration is to be maintained or whether the braking is to be canceled before the vehicle is brought to a standstill.

An electronic system for a vehicle includes first components for carrying out control tasks in response to operating sequences and second components that coordinate a cooperation of the components for carrying out control tasks. The invention is directed to a system for adjusting a transmission ratio in a transmission built into a motor vehicle. The system includes at least two transmission ratio criteria with which first transmission ratios are determined based on at least two different determining modes. The system also includes a first arrangement with the aid of which a second transmission ratio is selected in accordance with a pregiven prioritization from the determined first transmission ratios. The transmission ratio is then adjusted in dependence upon the selected second transmission ratio. In an advantageous configuration of the invention, a second arrangement is provided with which the second transmission ratio is modified in accordance with a pregiven strategy. The transmission ratio is then adjusted in dependence upon the modified second transmission ratio.

A system for adjusting a transmission ratio in a transmission built into a motor vehicle has at least two determination elements for determining values based on different determination modes with these values representing individual driving situations of the motor vehicle. An administrator calls up the values from the determination elements and stores the values. The administrator outputs individual ones of the values in response to a command whereupon the transmission ratio is adjusted at least in dependence upon the outputted ones of the values.

The invention proceeds from a motor vehicle having a drive train and the elements of the drive train are rotatable. The determination of a quantity, which represents the traction resistance, takes place in such a manner that an acceleration quantity is detected. This acceleration quantity represents the instantaneous acceleration of the vehicle. Furthermore, a reference quantity for the acceleration of the vehicle is detected and the quantity, which represents the traction resistance, is determined in dependence upon a comparison of the detected acceleration quantity with the determined reference quantity. The essence of the invention is that a rotation quantity is determined which represents the rotation torque of at least one element mounted in the drive train. The determination of the reference quantity takes place in accordance with the invention in dependence upon the determined rotation quantity. It is especially provided that the rotation quantities of individual elements, which are mounted in the drive train, are determined separately.

The invention proceeds from a system for considering differing amounts of components for determining at least one control quantity such as for controlling the operation of a motor vehicle. Such a system is known from the state of the art wherein a value is determined as a control quantity for the adaptive transmission control. This value characterizes the type of driver or the driving style. At least two different supply objects (for example, start-up evaluation, gradient evaluation) are provided with the aid of which, for each case, a component for determining the control quantity is determined. The determined components are then supplied to at least one collector which forms the evaluation quantity, for example, by maximum formation, weighted and/or moving-window sum formation of the individually determined components. The essence of the invention is that means are provided with which the supply of the components of the supply objects is controlled to the collector. With the system of the invention, it is possible in a simple manner to adapt the number of components, which are to be considered for the formation of the evaluation quantity, to the particular situation.

Several components are arranged in a command hierarchy and the commands for the components flow only from a higher abstraction level into a lower abstraction level and from a higher hierarchial level into a lower hierarchial level. The navigation system is a known map-supported navigation system. In this way, it is advantageously possible to precisely detect the present as well as future driving and environmental situations to which the vehicle is just then subjected or will be subjected in the near future. Accordingly, a very precise estimate of the then existing driving or environmental situation is obtained to which the vehicle is just then subjected or will be subjected in the near future. Shifting strategy can be adapted to these present and future driving situations.
