The first switch comprising first and second electrodes and further having a first actuator slidably mounted in a first direction and rigidly attached to the first electrode. The first actuator comprising a first armature. A second actuator comprising a second armature. A first control member comprising a first coil configured to simultaneously generate a switching current in the first armature and a current in the second armature via the first coil, so as to separate or bring into contact the first and second electrodes and so as to move the first and second actuators in opposite ways along the first direction.

The coil of each detector is placed around a respective one of the lines. Each detector delivers a signal representative of current flowing in the line, with occurrence of an electric discharge giving rise to a sudden variation in the current, and with electric discharge being located within an inside zone of the housing situated in proximity of the line that is surrounded by the detector that was first to deliver the sudden variation of current.

There is used as a closure member a flexible metal blade secured to the body, the closure member therefore being opened by deformation of the flexible blade from a closed position (FIG.) in which it is pressed against a closure member seat formed in the body to a fully open position in which it fits closely against a stop member secured to the valve body while remaining within its elastic limit, the open passage for the gas being open in this fully open position (FIG.A) and the return of the blade from its fully open position to its closed position being possible because of its flexibility.

The gas exhaust comprises a generally cylindrical shaped casing closed by a bottom at one end and with openings to allow gas to escape. A duct is arranged in the casing to delimit a central passage inside the duct, and an annular passage surrounding the central passage outside the duct between it and the casing. There is a communication consisting of four holes in the duct close to the bottom to form a communication between the central passage inside the duct and the annular passage. The casing includes two diametrically opposite openings located in a horizontal plane.

A control device for controlling electrical switchgear such as a circuit breaker or the like includes an actuating arm having a connection point suitable for being moved along a closed line including points P, Pand P. The connection point thus moves during an opening stage for opening the moving contact, under the effect of a mechanical spring from point Pto point P. It also moves during a re-cocking stage for re-cocking the mechanical spring under the effect of a motor being switched on, and while keeping the moving contact in the open position, from point Pto point P. It also moves during a closure stage for closing the moving contact, also under the effect of the motor being switched on, from point Pto P. In this manner it is possible to successively perform three distinct stages of putting the actuating arm in motion, between the instant at which the moving contact leaves its closed position and the instant at which it returns thereto after having occupied its open position. A re-cocking stage for re-cocking the mechanical spring that is distinct from the closing stage and from the opening stage for closing and opening the moving contact, is performed, with the opening stage to be performed merely by releasing the energy that has been previously accumulated by the spring.

A circuit-breaker includes two contacts which are disposed in an interrupting space filled with a dielectric gas under pressure and between which an electric arc strikes during circuit-breaker opening, a thermal blast chamber communicating directly with the interrupting space, and a piston-driven compression chamber communicating with the thermal blast chamber. The piston-driven compression chamber communicates with the interrupting space via a discharge channel that is separate from the thermal blast chamber and that is closed by a discharge valve. The discharge valve is disposed between the thermal blast chamber and the piston-driven compression chamber in a manner such that the discharge valve opens to enable the gas under increased pressure in the piston-driven compression chamber to be discharged towards the interrupting space via the channel when the increase in the pressure of the gases in the thermal blast chamber is larger than the increase in the pressure of the gases in the piston-driven compression chamber.
