A plurality of webs drawn from respective supply rolls forms a core stack which is passed through a single-level press to press boards from the press stack formed by applying cover foils to the core band. Once the pressed board forming part of the band is advanced from the press, the pressed board can be cut and trimmed from the band. The apparatus has a separating web insertion station for selectively inserting a separating web between core forming layers as part of the band so that, when one or more separating layers are inserted, each press cycle simultaneously forms two boards, but when no separating layer is inserted, only a single board is formed at each press cycle and separating operation.

Apparatus for producing laminate boards

A plurality of webs drawn from respective supply rolls forms a core stack which is passed through a single-level press to press boards from the press stack formed by applying cover foils to the core, the latter extending over and forming part of a transport belt that becomes part of the boards. Once the pressed board forming part of the belt is advanced from the press, the pressed board can be cut and trimmed from the belt.

Two decor laminate boards are produced in a single-level platen press in each operation by forming a stack of the two laminates and a separating layer between them. The layer leaves at least portions of an edge region of the stack free so that the two boards as they are formed in the press are bonded together and can be removed from the press without relative shifting. The joined region is then trimmed off to free the boards from one another.

Method of making decor laminate board in a single-level platen press

A continuously operable press for the manufacture of laminates and similar products has a heated press roll, two guide rolls, and at least one tensioning roll. One end of the rolls is journaled in bearings at a fixed support wall and the other end of each roll is removably journaled in bearings of a movable support wall. A pressure belt is passing over the rolls, but a decorating roll sleeve can be slid on and of from the press roll, and this provides a decoration on the adjacent laminate surface. The press has a device for lifting the relaxed pressure belt so as to remove the decorating roll sleeve. The lifter device has at least two transverse lift bars with suction heads, and the lift bars are distributed about the upper circumferential region of the press roll. Compressed air can be introduced between the press roll and the decorating roll sleeve when taking the decorating roll sleeve from the press roll. The movable support wall comprises a clamping assembly for holding the decorating roll sleeve during removal from the press roll.

Continuously operable press for the manufacture of laminates

An apparatus for applying, without folds or trapped air pockets, a metal foil to an underlying plate of board comprises a pair of parallel elongate suction wedges juxtaposable to the plate and reciprocatable parallel thereto a vertically reciprocatable bar for clamping the foil to the plate along a line extending between the suction wedges and parallel thereto. The wedges are each provided with a multiplicity of apertures in a linear array along the vertex of the wedge and a textile web extending from the respective wedge parallel to the plate for supporting the foil during a withdrawal stroke of the wedge.

Method of an apparatus for mounting a foil on a plate

A foil-section feeder in a laminating system includes a slicing assembly which clamps a web at a pair of spaced locations and subsequently cuts the web along a transverse line between the two clamps. A transport device in the form of gripper tongs is inserted into a gap in the slicing assembly to grip a leading end of the web and to draw the web from a roll past the slicing assembly to a predetermined position at a stacking or laminating station.
