A method and apparatus for the promoting movement of a cable-like element in a selected direction in a pipe with the assistance of a flowing agent moving in the selected direction in the pipe include the use of profiles arranged on the external surface of the cable-like element to produce turbulence which promotes co-movement of the cable-like element in the pipe, together with the flowing agent in the selected direction. A number of different turbulence generating flow promoting structures for the profiles are disclosed.

A longitudinally divided sleeve of shrinkable material has a lock closure along longitudinal edges. One of the longitudinal edges includes a closure element having a locking groove formed by two longitudinally extending leg portions, a second longitudinal edge being provided with a locking element having a longitudinally extending hook part having a resilient projection which is received in the locking groove to form the lock closure. The resilient projection prevents the accidental removal of the hook part from the locking groove and preferably the material forming the two elements has a higher cross-linking than the remaining portions of the heat-shrinkable sleeve.

A longitudinally divided cable sleeve has a U-shaped clamp element which coacts with a flexible sheet of heat shrinkable material having a closure element formed along one longitudinal edge. The closure element has a base connected by a neck portion to a longitudinally extending bead around which a portion of the flexible sheet opposite the closure element is wrapped and held by assembling the clamping element thereon. Since the closure element coacts with any portion of the flexible material, the diameter of the sleeve can be matched to the diameter of the article being enveloped in the sleeve.

The present invention is directed to a wrapper for surrounding an object such as a cable splice to form a cover or envelope containing an insulating compound characterized by a film having adhesive along two lateral edges for securing the film onto the object to form an enveloping cavity. The film has a container of a predetermined amount of the insulating compound which container is opened during the operation of wrapping the film onto the object so that upon completion of the wrapping, the container can be kneaded externally through the cover or envelope to remove the compound from the container and to knead the compound into the spaces and cavities of the object. Multiple joint box utilizing a thermoplastic clamping sleeve principle

A cylindrical-shaped cable sleeve, made of a suitable plastic, is formed by mating two semi-circular sleeve portions. With suitable cables inserted through an opening at each end and spliced therein, the two sleeve portions are secured from separation by a suitable clamping device engaging longitudinal mating flanges running on the exterior surface on each side of each half portion. The cable splice is sealed within the sleeve by insertion of a suitable sealant which is prevented from leaking by a series of axially disposed sealing rings interfacing with the cable to form a joint.

A sealing member for effecting a gas-tight closure about a cable at an inlet to a hollow cable sleeve fitting. The member is annular in form and is divided on a plane parallel to the cable axis for assembly about the cable after boring a selected passage for the cable through the member. The sealing member has a plurality of radially- and circumferentially-continuous, radially outwardly-extending, longitudinally-spaced ribs engageable via a coating of plastic potting compound with an inner surface of the inlet fitting. The ribs are held in spaced relation by an integral reinforcement member which is spaced radially inwardly of the outer circumference of the ribs. A center portion of the reinforcement member is apertured so that selective boring through of the member to form a cable passage will leave internal radial ribs for bearing against the cable via a second plastic potting compound. Any number and size of cable passages may be provided for.
