The invention relates to different methods for distortion-free production of data carriers having at least in partial areas a transparent plastic layer with a surface structure in the form of a lens structure. The surface structure can be produced by cutting method or embossed by applying heat and pressure. Alternatively the surface structure can be produced as a separate element which is connected after its production with the data carrier.

Data carrier

The invention relates to a method for producing injection-molded cards with at least one decorative layer ( ) which is already applied to a foil ( ) or an inlay before injection molding. To protect the inks used for the decoration from thermal action and/or excessive pressures and/or high mechanical stress during injection molding, the decorative layer ( ) is covered according to the invention with a protective layer ( ) before the foil ( ) provided with the decoration or an inlay provided with a decoration is inserted into the injection mold.

The invention relates to a method for producing chip cards having electronic modules. The prior art discloses different production methods for such chip cards wherein the particular electronic module used has a special structure. In contrast, a method is now presented for producing chip cards having electronic modules that uses a standardized electronic module which is adapted to the production technique for the card in a last method step and connected with the card body by the selected technique.

Method for producing identity cards having electronic modules

The invention relates to a multi-layered identification card comprising a card core laminated between cover sheets with user information appearing on the card inlet. At least one of the cover sheets is transparent. The information is provided on the inlet by means of a laser beam being controlled accordingly so as to protect against forgery. When producing the card the information is provided onto the inlet through the transparent cover sheet.

Identification card

A multilayered data carrier, in particular an identification card, consisting of at least one data carrier with non-user and user data, in particular with a phonograph of the authorized user, in the case of which the user data, i.e. the user's photograph, are protected by a transparent cover sheet which is glued or welded onto the card. The data carrier has a high-security printed pattern, e.g. a guilloche pattern, and the user data are copied onto the data carrier by means of an electro-photographic method, i.e. by xerography or by zinc oxide-electrophotography.

Multilayered indentification card

An identification card having photographically recorded individualizing data is provided. The photographically recorded data are interspersed with a security pattern in transparent ink. This pattern is printed onto the photographic layer before the photographic data are recorded. The photographic recording process is carried out in such a way that there is no darkening under the security pattern. The security pattern, recognizable through the transparent printing ink, is thus also impressed upon the photographically recorded data.

Guilloche identification card

An identification card protected against external chemical influences of the environment, having blocking layers in its outer areas to prevent plasticizers and other chemical substances which reduce stability and durability from penetrating inside the card. The blocking layers consisting of PETP (polyethylene terephtalate), PE (polyethylene), paper or other chemically resistant materials are located on the surface of the card, preferably in compound films with the construction PVC/blocking layer/PVC, between which the card core bearing the personalization data is laminated in. Thus partial embeddings such as signature stripes, magnetic stripes, photos, etc. can also be provided in the surface layer, the inner PVC layers of the card still being optimally protected by the blocking layers against the negative consequences of the influence of plasticizers, such as fatigue fracture and bending tears.

A laminated multi-layer identification card comprising a plurality of individual layers connected to one another and having at least one outer surface which is directly contactable. At least one additional outer layer is laminated to the outer surface and covers a portion of the outer surface. The outer layer has a surface relief pattern in the form of intaglio printing which is directly accessible. The outer laminated layer may be made of paper and the remaining exposed outer surface not covered by the outer layer may be given a texture similar to that of paper so that the entire surface of the card feels like a paper-rough surface.

A record carrier including an information-containing layer in the form of a composite insert comprising at least one paper insert and a film border. The composite insert is printed, without interruption, on both the paper insert and the film border in at least one printing operation. Transparent films on both surfaces of the composite insert seal the latter therebetween and form a paper-film laminate with each paper insert and film-film seals with the film border.

Multilayer edge sealed record carrier

In one method of making the record carrier, a paper sheet is formed with an almost completely perforated punch or blanking line defining a paper insert or core, and a separating layer is applied to the upper surface of the paper sheet in bordering relation with the punch or blanking line. A thin film border is positioned on the separating layer and overlaps, inwardly, the punch or blanking line. A backing film is provided with a silicone separating layer congruent with the paper insert, and is applied to the back of the paper sheet. The thus assembled layers are then laminated to each other. The paper insert and the thin film border are then printed, without transition, in at least one printing operation. After the printing, the backing film and the paper sheet are separated from the paper insert and the thin film border. The resulting composite insert or core is then sealed between the two transparent films. In another method, a paper insert is positioned on a backing film and embedded therein. The paper insert and the film area surrounding the paper insert are then printed, without transition, in at least one printing operation. The resulting composite insert or core is then sealed between the two transparent films.

Method of making multilayer edge-sealed record carrier

The data carrier is of the type consisting of a data carrying paper blank interposed between two films bonded to the opposite surfaces of the paper blank at respective bonding interfaces. At least one of the bonding interfaces has local areas in which the bond between the film and the respective surface of the paper blank is at least weakened, or omitted, relative to the remainder of the respective bonding interface, so that, when an attempt is made to split the data carrier paper blank along a plane between its opposite surfaces, and the local areas are reached, the tear, following the course of least resistance, will turn toward the surface of the paper blank. This results in a tear at the local areas and thus in the destruction of the respective surfaces of the paper blank. The local areas may be randomly located in the bonding interface or interfaces and, if both bonding interfaces have the local areas, the local non-bonded areas may be randomly located in both bonding interfaces or may be congruently located in both bonding interfaces. The local areas may be formed by either applying a parting compound to the surface or surfaces of the paper blank at the local areas, before bonding of the films thereto, or by appropriate treatment of the films, before bonding to the paper blank, to provide the local areas.
