A radio-controlled wristwatch includes a casing, a printed circuit board disposed in the casing, and an antenna disposed in the casing. The antenna includes a core and a coil carried by the core. The core comprises a stack of soft-iron strips stacked in a direction parallel to a plane of the circuit board. The stack is arranged in a curved shape extending along and adjacent to an outer peripheral edge of the circuit board. The core is bonded to a surface of the circuit board and supports the coil within a pocket formed in the circuit board.

Antenna for a radio-controlled wristwatch

A radio controlled timepiece movement includes a carrier structure and a wheel train mounted thereon. The wheel train includes a plurality of rotatable wheels each having a wheel aperture formed therein. The apertures are alignable with one another. A printed circuit board is mounted on the carrier structure and has a board aperture formed therethrough. An end of the board aperture disposed farthest from the wheels is covered by a portion of a conductor of the circuit board. A light beam transmitter is mounted on that conductor and disposed in the board aperture. A wire extends from the element to the second conductor. The transmitter and wire are embedded within a radiation-permeable material which fills the board aperture.

Radio-controlled timepiece movement and method of assembly

A radio-controlled timepiece comprises an antenna in the form of a core on which a coil is mounted. The core includes a hole spaced from the coil and defining an axis oriented perpendicular to the coil axis. A printed circuit board is disposed in the hole such that electrically conductive tracks thereof are arranged in a plane lying within a center plane of the core.

Radio-controlled timepiece

A radio timepiece is disclosed which receives and decodes a time information signal from a remote transmitter and displays a time information. The timepiece includes a manual time zone switching circuitry deigned to permit use of the timepiece in time zones adjacent to the one in which the transmitter is located, while providing a user-friendly selection and display of the time information. The timepiece includes an electro-optical display providing a cartographical representation of the transmitter time zone and several adjacent time zones. A summing register is provided to manually offset the received time information and actuate a graphic display indicative of the time zone to which the offset time display corresponds. The summing register may be cyclically incremented by a single switch, or incremented, decremented or zeroed by appropriate actuation of two switches.

Radio timepiece

A radio-controlled timepiece includes an antenna ferrite core which also serves as a base plate having recesses into which the thicker clockworks components, such as a hands mechanism are disposed. Thinner clockworks parts, such as strip conductors, circuits and optronic display modules are mounted directly to the surface of the core. Plastic inserts are affixed to the bottoms of the recesses and includes holes in which the thicker clockworks parts are mounted.

Radio-controlled timepiece with antenna coil

An autonomous radio timepiece (11) with a magnetic antenna (14) located in the vicinity of a electromechanical transducer (25) for driving a time display (19), in order to obtain a radio timepiece with a small volume and operable in a compact manner. To avoid electromagnetic interference with the antenna inlet of a tuned radio-frequency receiver (12), the transducer (25) is deactivated while the receiver (12) is actuated for the reception and coding of an absolute time information (15) transmitted by radio. A subsequent recovery of the transducer drive pulses (42) for autonomous time keeping corrects the display (19). However, a transducer (25.1) may remain in uninterrupted operation if it is located relative to the antenna coil (33) with the relative position of its core (34) in a manner such that components of the stray current or electro magnetic field (39) exiting from the frontal side of the transducer field coil (39) in a fan-like manner passes through the antenna coil (33) in opposite directions, so that the two components (39a, 39b) of the stray current offset or cancel each other out. In a two-motor radio timepiece mechanism, the second transducer (25.2), the stator stray current (39.2) thereof cannot be compensated in the antenna coil (33), remains deactivated during the operation of the receiver and is assigned to the display means (19) with the slowest advancing action, for example, the hour hand in case of a separate drive of the minute and possibly the seconds hand.

Autonomous radio timepiece

A radio-controlled timepiece contains a mechanism for the detection and correction of a hands setting. The mechanism includes a sender and a receiver for sending and receiving, respectively, a radiation beam. A hands setting mechanism includes an hour wheel, a minute wheel, and a seconds wheel, each possessing an aperture therethrough. The hour wheel has a front mirror located proximate the beam sender for reflecting a beam to the receiver. The front mirror has an interruption defined by the aperture of the hour disk in order to pass the beam through that aperture to a rear mirror disposed remote from the sender, such that a beam reflects from the rear mirror only after passing through aligned apertures in the disks. The hour wheel is movable independently of the minute wheel and seconds wheel, and the minute wheel and seconds wheel are rotatably interconnected.

Position detection and correction mechanism for a timepiece

A autonomous radio timepiece (11), in particular in the form of a small travel clock or a wristwatch, is designed to operate for an extended period of time with a small battery, and to provide a reliable time display when traveling outside the reception range of a transmitter of coded time telegrams set for a certain geographical time zone. The timepiece casing (20) is equipped with a multifuncton switching device (21) and an associated decoder (23), which evaluates the combination of the momentary actuation of push buttons (22). It is thus possible by means of the switching device (21) to switch into a power saving storage state if the timepiece is not in use, and to return to normal operations.

A radio-controlled timepiece includes a clock face, a hands assembly mounted for rotation about an axis in front of the clock face, and an alarm setting mechanism. The alarm setting mechanism comprises a minute setting disk which is driven by an hour setting disk. A manually rotatable transparent support disk is mounted in front of the clock face for rotation about the same axis as the hands assembly. The support disk carries a marker which, when the support member is rotated, is moved to indicate a particular hour and minute indicator on the clock face. The support disk is connected to the hour setting disk to rotate the latter which, in turn, rotates the minute setting disk. The support disk is accessible to rotation at the front of the clock. The hour and minute setting disks are preferably connected to an alarm time storage device by means of conductive fingers which are mounted on the disks and which are engageable with concentric conductive strips mounted on a stationary part of the clock.

Alarm clock

An electromechanical alarm clock (42) with a variable alarm indicator (48) on a 12 hour time display, for example, of a numerical face plate (44), is designed, without the need for extensive mechanical or electromechanical setting or switching means, to operate over 24 hours, so that an alarm signal (52) will be emitted not 12 hours, but 24 hours after the setting of an alarm signal time. To this end, a blocking time circuit (75) is provided, which operates slightly longer than 12 hours if it is actuated by the manual deactivation of the alarm signal (51), and is based preferably on the counting of pulses from the time keeping clock circuit (45). The blocking time circuit (75) is also reset by a reset switch (71) when another time is set for the emission of the alarm signal, in any case if the new alarm signal emission time is set within the blocking time period (H). The reset switch (71) provided for this purpose may be combined functionally with the setting handle (73) for the setting of the alarm signal.

Electromechanical alarm clock

An autonomous radio timepiece comprises a casing and a bracelet attached thereto. The casing includes an operating circuit, while the bracelet carries a flexible antenna. The antenna can be removed from the bracelet in the event that the bracelet is worn and must be discarded. The antenna carries a plug-in type connector at one end which is adapted to make a tight sealing connection with the casing, and is also adapted to electrically connect the antenna with the circuit of the casing. The circuit within the casing includes a receiver which is fixedly tuned as a function of the antenna inductivity of a foil core to the time message transmitter. Also provided is a variable automatic supplemental tuner to compensate for bending of the bracelet while the receiver is actuated. The antenna comprises a foil of an insulting material on which an antenna conductor is printed, along with two shielding conductors extending parallel to the antenna conductor.

Autonomous radio-controlled timepiece

An autonomous radio timepiece (1), in particular small, portable timepiece such as a travel alarm clock or a wrist watch includes a display (25) of the prevailing radio field intensity. The display (25) is capable of simultaneously signaling the actuation of a receiver (14) for the decoding of absolute time information and is conveniently combined, in the form of a bar graph, with day indicator flags adjacent a day-of-the-week display (26). When operating outside the time zone for which the transmitter emits the coded absolute time information, the time piece may be manually switched to the instantaneously prevailing time zone. The number of time zone changes may be entered and displayed, or the prevailing hour (H) of the time zone involved is entered, from which an electro-mechanical time display (18) then continues to advance.

An autonomous radio controlled timepiece having a display for displaying information relative to receiving conditions to provide the consumer with increased assurance regarding the accuracy of the instantaneous time display. For this purpose, an analog or digital, optionally multidigit display element is provided, which displays supplemental information concerning the quality of reception, expressed as an indication of the period of time elapsed since the most recent monitoring and possible correction of the time display, the correction based on the information received by radio and decoded. The display element offers the lowest possible display value if the radio reception conditions are good enough that each actuation of the receiver leads to the acquisition of usable time information. The degree of certainty in the accuracy of the time display predisposes the timepiece to be used as an alarm clock in particular, in which case the alarm clock need only be equipped with setting elements for preselecting the time of alarm, for an alarm interruption or deactivation, and optionally for the switching of a supplemental display between displaying the preselected time of alarm and date information obtained from the radio information.

Autonomous radio controlled timepiece

An autonomous radio timepiece is provided which will furnish a usable time display even when it is outside the time zone of the sender or if the timepiece is to be actuated, when it is not possible at a given point in time to receive valid time telegrams. For this, the timepiece is equipped with a manually actuated hour switch for the input of correction information in a supplemental memory, the content of which is summed together for the actual hour display with that of the hour register, possible set by radio. By actuating a START switch to a full hour, for example, synchronized with the reception of an hour synchronizing signal from another source, the content of the register is brought into a full hour position and from there, stepped forward by an internal time keeping step circuit. The receiver is actuated simultaneously in order to correct the content of the register if a valid time telegram is received. Should this not take place within a reasonable period of time, the hour setting, which possibly is displayed incorrectly, may be corrected manually by means of the hour switch, by setting its memory to the display difference required.

Autonomous radio timepiece capable of automatic correction regardless of

An autonomous radio timepiece with a receiver for receiving time telegram information to be decoded and a reset switch for the restarting the reception, decoding and display functions. The timepiece is structured so that manual actuation is still be possible, and erroneous actions affecting the processor relative to the execution of time telegram decoding and the control of time derived functions are prevented. For this purpose, optionally in addition to the conventional reset switch installed in a covered manner, a separate receiver switch is provided, whereby the receiver may be actuated temporarily and optionally the time display unit then reset into a reference position. If the receiver is not provided with a usable time information within a predetermined period time, the time display unit is reset to the value of the time register in order to display the time incremented in the register in a normal time keeping manner or the time instantaneously verified by radio, without affecting other time derived functions, such as an alarm emission program, by such intermittent actuation of the receiver. Thus, the time which has been incremented in said register in a time keeping manner is displayed.
