A pivotable irradiating device for a person on a lying surface provides extensively uniform continued irradiation of the lying surface without any interruption in time when the irradiating device is pivoted out of the starting position. The irradiating device has at least one radiator in a housing. The housing is connected to a securing element via a rotatable connector (hinge). The axis of rotation of the hinge is located outside a central axis of the irradiating device. The intersection of these two axes is located in the center of the lying surface or in its vicinity.

Pivotable irradiating device

In incubator 1 for tomographic examinations includes a patient section 2 and a supply section 3 which extends from the patient section 2. The patient section includes a cylindrically-shaped double wall section made of transparent plastic. The supply section 3 includes a venturi nozzle 13 which functions to generate a difference pressure and simultaneously supplies air and oxygen. The supply section 3 also includes a heater 14 which is preferably combined with an air humidifier 15 outputting water vapor as well as input and output openings to and from the patient section 2 to ensure a circulating air and oxygen supply in the incubator 1 while at the same time emitting a gas portion to the ambient through openings 20.

Incubator for tomographic examinations

The invention directed to an incubator for infants and includes an air guidance system which extends about the support surface 7 and effects a uniform temperature distribution. This uniform temperature distribution is achieved in that the heated air is moved via a fan 8 so that it rises between the incubator hood 2 and the inner wall 4 and thereafter descends between the inner wall 4 and the support surface 7.

Incubator for infants

An incubator for maintaining a warm environment for infants includes a substantially elongated resting or bed surface which is surrounded by a hood. At least one side wall of the front side has closable access openings. An air outlet for supplying air into the hood and an air inlet for carrying air away from the hood are provided at the peripheral region of the resting surface. In the incubator, the air is guided to maintain a stable incubator air temperature to reduce heat losses from convection and radiation with the hood closed and, with the front side opened, the buildup of a stable warm-air curtain is promoted. For this purpose, the air outlet is disposed along the front side, and the air inlet is disposed along the rear side opposite this front side.

A radiation arrangement provides heat to a bed surface for accommodating a patient thereon. Heat sources are arranged at a spatial distance above the bed surface in such a way that uniform radiant warming of the bed surface is obtained and that sides of the bed surface are maintained clear of radiation to facilitate access by persons attending the patient so that these attending persons are not subjected to the radiant heat especially in the region of the head. The arrangement includes small-surface heat radiators which are located and spaced vertically above the corner points of a polygon border enclosing the bed surface.

Radiation arrangement

An incubator has a transparent covering hood having at least one side wall on which two flaps are mounted for closing access openings formed in the side wall. The flaps are each provided with a hinge and closure element. The flaps and access openings are so configured that the maximum possible freedom of movement is provided for the person treating the patient while at the same time the smallest possible outlet area is attained to prevent heat and oxygen losses from within the incubator to the ambient. For this purpose, the access openings are configured to be elongated and so that their respective longitudinal axes conjointly define an upwardly facing obtuse angle. To improve visibility for observing the premature infant and to improve ergonomically correct actuation of the operating elements, both the hinge and the closure element are located together on one side of the flap.

Incubator

A transport container particularly for use as an incubator comprises a housing having an interior substantially vertical wall and a substantially horizontal wall with a support structure mounted in the housing spaced from the vertical wall and the horizontal wall so as to define a convection passage below and on one side of the support. The convection passage contains means for suspending one or more heating elements in the passage. The heating elements may comprise of preheatable plates, water containers, etc. or each storage material, for example salts or other substances which change in structure when passing through a critical point so as to provide a latent heat for aiding and heating the area overlying the support structure.
