The present invention provides a method and system for determining and providing color metadata for a downlink data channel. In accordance with the present invention color metadata is determined such that gamut mapping is defined by a transmitted source gamut which enables adapted mapping that preserves saturation and contrast levels of the source for a downlink data channel. The metadata is then provided to a downlink data channel for color management.

The invention relates to a method for correcting chromatic aberration in an image capture device like a camera. It comprises the steps of determining, in the image, an analyzing area around the current pixel, comparing, for the current pixel, a first color component data of a first block of pixels comprising the current pixel to a second color component data of pixels of second blocks of pixels having the same size as the first block within the analyzing area, selecting the second block of pixels having the highest correlation with the first block of pixels, determining the shift vector to be applied to the selected second block in order that said selected second block coincides spatially with said first block of pixels, and shifting the second color component data of the pixel of the selected second block corresponding to the current pixel in accordance with the shift vector so as to correct chromatic aberration.

A temporally recursive chrominance signal noise reduction can be achieved by subtracting a delayed version of the chrominance output signal from the chrominance input signal and by multiplying the related difference signal by a variable share factor and adding the resulting signal to the chrominance output signal, for achieving different degrees of noise reduction. From the difference signal a motion representative value and a value representing the presence of a smear effect are calculated and used to calculate the variable factor. After having been multiplied by this factor, the difference signal is combined with a frame-delayed version of the chrominance output signal in order to form the noise-reduced chrominance output signal.
