A respirator to be worn in front of the chest with regeneration of the breathing air, containing a regenerating cartridge with a plurality of chemical layers, a breathing bag, a connection piece on the side of the breathing bag located opposite the regenerating cartridge, a breathing hose pointing from the connection piece to the user, and an oxygen-releasing starting device at the regenerating cartridge. The supply of oxygen into the breathing bag and the wear properties are improved by the breathing bag being designed as a bag lying flat on the regenerating cartridge and having a ring-shaped hose part, which can be laid around the neck of the user. This provides a neck opening formed within the breathing bag. An opening is provided in the chemical layer located opposite the breathing bag. A starting device is accommodated in this opening such that it is in flow connection with a collector chamber opening into the breathing bag.

Respirator

A breathing mask with a mask body designed as a full mask with a field of vision and with a filter with a filter connection 13, wherein the filter can be arranged in the middle 3 of the mask body or to the side of it in the cheek area, is to be improved such that the use properties with the filter attached are improved in terms of the position of the center of gravity, a larger field of vision is present, and there is good adaptability to optical devices. To accomplish this task, the filter is designed as a cassette filter extending in the shape of a U from the middle of the mask body to the cheek area, and the field of vision includes a transparent, elastic elastomer section, into which individual, segment-like eye-protective lenses made of a solid material are inserted.

A container and locking device for gas tightly locking a container for gas masks and breathing equipment containing moisture-sensitive filter mass, including a first container shell and a second container shell, each container shell having outwardly projecting circumferential edges at front surfaces, the first container shell and the second container shell abutting at the front surfaces. A strap surrounding the projecting circumferential edges to clamp the circumferential edges. A sealing member connecting the first container shell and the second container shell, the sealing member being inserted into grooves located at the front surfaces of the first container shell and the second container shell. A lock connected to the strap ends for holding the strap ends, the lock being pivotable for pivoting movement around at least one hinge located at one of the first container shell and the second container shell, the lock including a tumbler participating in the pivoting movement and a transmission member participating in the pivoting movement, the tumbler moving from a closed position engaging the strap ends to a release position for releasing the strap ends upon the pivoting movement, the transmission member acting on the first container shell and the second container shell to move the first container shell and the second container shell relative to increase a distance between the front surfaces.

A gas mask and breathing equipment air cleaning cartridge (1) with a carbon dioxide-binding chemical packing (4) and an insert (3). The insert has legs (6) arranged in a radiate pattern perpendicularly to the direction of flow. The legs (6) have a flexibility that compensates for differences in the filling ratios of the strands (5) of chemical and have an identical bent zigzag-shaped designs to provide good heat distribution in the circumferential direction and good resistance to vibrations and shocks.

A respirator with regeneration of the respired air by several chemical fillings, which emit oxygen and bind carbon dioxide and are disposed in parallel in the respiratory passage between a mouthpiece and a breather bag is to be improved, so that a uniform utilization of the chemicals in the fillings is achieved. The different resistances of the respiratory paths of the fillings are to be evened up so that the pollutant load on and the consumption of the fillings can be divided up evenly over the existing fillings during the whole of the period of use. For this purpose, provisions are made so that each filling is connected to its own breather bag for accommodating the exhaled air flowing through it.

A closed-cycle breathing equipment and gas mask for operation under pressure with a pressurized air source for respiratory air and with an air bag being under prestress during the inspiration phase includes an arrangement where the prestress is decreased by a control element recognizing the expiratory phase and so as to support respiration during the expiration phase. A pneumatic control valve is used which can switch connections between the inspiration and the expiration phase and which is directly controlled by the difference between the exhalation pressure and the pressure in the air bag. The control valve connects the pressurized air source with the air bag during the inspiration phase and during the expiration phase it interrupts the connection due to the occurring dynamic pressure of the pressurized air from the pressurized air source and thus actuates a pneumatic adjusting element so that the mechanical prestress at the air bag is reduced.

Closed-cycle breathing equipment

A protective breathing device with regeneration of the breathed air includes a regeneration cartridge arranged in the flow between a breath intake and a breathing bag. The device provides effective cooling of the inhaled air and the best possible protection of the wearer against touching the heated cartridge while keeping the overall arrangement as compact and easy to wear as possible. For this purpose, a breathing bag 16 is divided into two partial bag, the first being an exhalation pouch containing a regeneration cartridge, which is arranged to force exhaled air into a second partial bag, or inhalation bag through valving the regenerated breathing air is connected back to a breathing mouth piece.

Protective breathing device

An emergency supply unit with a respirator for oxygen supply to air passengers contains an O.sub.2 -delivering supply unit and a mask, which are received in an openable housing. After removal from the housing the parts form an independent unit which is ready for versatile mobile use. The oxygen unit and the mask are mounted on a housing part which is detachably connected with the housing body and provided with a carrying strap.

A respirator with regeneration of the respiratory air includes, for the cooling of the inhalation air, a chemical cartridge regenerating the respiratory air which has an area cooler located in the respiratory air stream, which cooler is arranged adjacent to and spaced from the surface of the chemical cartridge.

Case for a breathing mask or breathing apparatus unit

An oxygen insufflation device for wearing on the head of a person comprises a head engaging frame similar to a spectacle frame including a front portion and a side temple portion engaged on each side of said frame terminating in respective ear engaging ends. The front member is engaged with the front portion of the frame and has a nose feed engageable over the person's nose and a downwardly extending portion terminating in a nose plug which is engageable into a single nostril. A flexible connection for supplying oxygen is connected into the frame at one of the temple portions and an oxygen flow passage is defined from this flexible connection through the associated temple portion and along the front of the frame and down said front member in the downwardly extending portion and terminates in a discharge opening in the nose plug. The frame advantageously includes a flexible connection between the front portion of the frame and the temples in the form of flexible links which are made from corrugated tube stock. Ear engaging portions comprise bows which are made of helically wound flat wires enclising a spring construction within the wires. The front portion of the device advantageously includes a flexible angular tubular member terminating in the nose seat.
