An impact damper for deceleration of a vehicle impacting on all obstacle by hydraulic damping forces and gas spring forces includes at least inner and outer pipes telescopically displaceable one inside the other and defining an annular space therebetween with a base closing one end of the inner pipe. A dividing piston is sealingly guided in the inner pipe. The inner pipe, the base, and the dividing piston define a gas space which holds gas under pressure. The inner pipe further defines a first liquid space separated from the gas space by the dividing piston. An intermediate wall is fastened to the inner pipe and includes a throttle opening therethrough connecting a second liquid space to the first liquid space. The annular space between the first and second pipes has one end sealed to the atmosphere and another end sealed by the intermediate wall. The annular space is connected to the second liquid space by a flow connection having a valve.

Impact damper

Impact damper as a connecting member between a bumper and a chassis of a motor vehicle for the purpose of damping the shock loading during a collision between this motor vehicle and an obstacle, predominantly through gas-spring forces and deformation work. This impact damper includes an inner tube and an outer tube, which can be displaced telescopically one inside the other, thereby changing the volume of pressurized first and second gas spaces, at least one of the gas spaces being connected to an accumulator by a pneumatic feed line. An electrically controllable control valve, by means of which the air pressure in the gas spaces can be changed, can be arranged in the pneumatic feed line. The pressure in the gas spaces can be varied by a detection sensor system in the motor vehicle, which controls a control valve and adapts the pressure to the expected momentum of the collision. It is possible for a deformation element to be displaced as well to absorb a high impact energy by deformation work.

An impact damper as a connecting member between a bumper and a chassis of a motor vehicle for the purpose of damping the shock loading during a collision between this motor vehicle and an obstacle, predominantly through deformation work in a tube of the impact damper. The tube is connected to the chassis via a bracket and to the bumper via a bumper receptacle. The bumper receptacle, the bracket and the towing lug with the tube are connected to one another by a joining technique before they are connected to one another by a stamping operation. The advantage of the invention lies in low-cost production without compromises in terms of the functioning of the impact damper.

This impact damper includes an inner tube which can be displaced telescopically inside an outer tube, thereby changing the volume of a pressurized gas space, which interact by means of a separating piston with a first liquid space, which communicates hydraulically via a restriction orifice with a second liquid space, which is bounded by a deformation element. The separating piston is arranged in a floating manner in the inner tube and thereby brings about a static equilibrium by pressure compensation in the liquid spaces and in the gas space. The outer tube furthermore has a drawn-in portion around the deformation element, which brings the outer tube to a reduced diameter, within which is arranged a compensation space that can be filled with gas formed by an end wall at the end of the outer tube. The deformation element has an adjustable control valve, which can be controlled from outside the impact damper by a detection sensor system. The compensation space furthermore communicates with an accumulator, which can likewise activate the pressure in the gas spaces in response to the detection sensor system.

An impact damper includes two tubes which are slidable one in the other for braking a vehicle impact against an obstacle by hydraulic damping forces and pneumatic spring forces. The inner tube is closed off by a bottom. A gas chamber containing a high pressure gas cushion is arranged adjacent to the bottom and bounded by a separating piston that is guided sealingly and displaceably in the inner tube. A first fluid chamber is arranged between the separating piston and a partition fixed in the inner tube and provided with choke openings. A second fluid chamber is formed by the outer tube and connected to the first fluid chamber via the partition. The outer tube has a tapering region directed away from the partition, and a deformation element dividing the second fluid chamber into two part chambers.

Impact-absorbing bumper mount with two telescoping tubes, in particular for motor vehicles, to decelerate a vehicle via damping forces when the vehicle strikes an obstacle, whereby a work piston is guided in a sealed manner in one of the tubes, and with which, in addition to a weight reduction, it is also possible to simplify the fabrication process, reduce costs and achieve sufficient corrosion protection. The invention teaches that this problem can be solved by tubes which have recesses on their inside and outside, and which are coated with a polymeric material.

In the inner space or interior of the impact damper, there may be included at least one dampening fluid which is filled through a filling device; a throttling point; and at least one component which confines the at least one dampening fluid in the inner space.
