A textile machine for producing cross-wound packages, which has a plurality of workstations on the two longitudinal sides of the machine and is equipped with a tube magazine arranged at an end of the machine, the tube magazine having a plurality of empty-tube transport rows, driven by electric motor and loaded with empty tubes of different yarn lots. In order to avoid the fixed division of the empty-tube transport rows that hitherto was defined by the construction of the tube magazine and thus to avoid limited variations in the yarn lot management, the invention provides for the empty-tube transport rows to be equipped with electric drives, which are connected to a control unit of the textile machine, the machine control system being designed in such a way that different lot management programs are set by software.

A textile machine for producing cross-wound packages, the machine being equipped with a plurality of workstations arranged next to one another on both longitudinal sides of the machine and having a cross-wound package transport apparatus. The cross-wound package transport apparatus has a first transport device, arranged between the two rows of workstations for conveying cross-wound packages, and a handling apparatus for moving cross-wound packages from the first transport device to the second transport device. The handling apparatus is arranged between the end regions of the first transport device.

Method for operating a service unit for processing work orders regarding a cross-wound package/empty tube doffing process employed at spinning machines producing take-up packages that process at least two different lots, whereby the service unit is fed an empty tube via the spinning machine's tube feed track, and the fed empty tube is taken up by the service unit. If the current work order for the cross-wound package/empty tube doffing of the workstations expires before it is processed and the empty tube is exchanged and another work order has come in which is for a workstation requiring a cross-wound package/empty tube doffing for another lot, the already taken up empty tube is released by the service unit, and the service unit takes up an empty tube of another lot in order to be able to carry out a cross-wound package/empty tube doffing process at the other workstation.

Method for operating a service unit

A method for producing an effect yarn on an open-end rotor spinning machine, formed from an alternating line-up of yarn sections and effects consisting of pre-determined thickenings, wherein an effect is produced where the yarn is joined by means of a piecing end, in the piecing region of the yarn located downstream of the piecing end, following a break in the thread. The quality of the yarn produced in this way is improved such that unwanted deviations from the pre-determined repeat of pattern of the effect yarn, caused by piecing regions, are eliminated.

A rotor spinning machine of the type comprising a plurality of working stations and a bobbin supplying device extending along the machine, wherein at least two service units supplying the working stations with bobbins are supplied by the supply device and wherein the rotor spinning machine comprises a control device for controlling the service units. The control device is configured in such a way that it suppresses a subsequent bobbin request from the second service unit in the event of an existing bobbin request from the first service unit positioned downstream in relation to the transporting direction of the supply device, until the initially existing bobbin request has been fulfilled.
