An upgrade procedure for an application system without downtime is presented. The upgrade procedure includes a mix of a rolling upgrade of application servers, shadow systems, and record and replay mechanisms that employ transformation and locking, for the upgrade of the applications on the application system. Application servers are upgraded one after another. A target version of the system is simultaneously added to the original system and a shadow, or target, system. Data changes are not only carried out in the original system, but are also carried out in the target system, so that a customer realizes no downtime for their data requests to the applications.

Systems and methods consistent with the invention may include using asynchronous communication and scopes to transparently decouple modules and distribute load. Asynchronous communication may be achieved by using message queues or by using message topics. Scopes are introduced as a means to provide structure to resources associated with the decoupled modules and to improve the ability to distribute such resources necessary to process messages between modules. Furthermore, the use of asynchronous communication and scopes may be done automatically and transparently to the user and/or application developers.

A system and method for connecting information resources in a collaborative work environment. A system includes at least one information source providing collaboration data, and a repository framework including at least one source for storing the collaboration data. A collaborative bot service is connected with the repository framework, and includes one or more bots, or autonomous programs, configured to traverse the source via the repository framework, extract a topic from a portion of the collaboration data, and create a link between the portion of the collaboration data and an information resource related to the collaboration data based on the topic.
