A DC-to-DC converter for transporting energy between two networks includes two or more converter circuits connected in parallel, wherein a first semiconductor switch that can be actuated as a function of a voltage drop across the first semiconductor switch is arranged in series to each converter circuit or a second semiconductor switch that can be actuated as a function of a voltage drop across the second semiconductor switch is arranged in series to each converter circuit.

DC-to-DC converter

A DC-DC converter circuit arrangement consisting of at least one multiphase DC-DC converter for transporting energy between two electrical systems. The arrangement may include several converter circuits whereby each features at least one first control element that can be regulated. A controller can produce several drive signals that have different phases. One switched mode operation of a converter circuit of the multiphase DC-DC converter can be controlled with each drive signal. The switched mode operation of each converter circuit of each subsequent multiphase DC-DC converter can be controlled by means of a drive signal, which can be produced by the controller. The controller is designed and equipped in such a way that it can enable or disable the energy transport by means of one of the multiphase DC-DC converter.

DC-DC converter circuit arrangement

The present invention relates to a circuit for emulating a current via a power inductor of a DC-to-DC converter. The circuit is able to generate a first signal and detect or emulate the constant component of the current by using a power inductor. The circuit is also able to generate a second signal or components of a second signal and emulate an alternating component of the current by using the power inductor. The circuit also is able to splice the first and second signal or the first signal and components of the second signal into a signal which at least partially emulates the current via the power inductor. The circuit able to generate a first signal may include a current sensing resistor connected to the power inductor and a first capacitor, and to a first input and output.

The invention concerns a headlamp for vehicles with a reflector comprising a reflector opening for receiving a gas discharge lamp, with an ignition device for operating the gas discharge lamp, with holding means for releasably connecting the ignition device to a reflector, with electromagnetically compatible contact means arranged between the ignition device and the reflector, wherein the holding means includes a holding element which together with the ignition device and the gas discharge lamp forms a common unit, and the electromagnetically compatible contact means is integrated in the holding element, in such a way that, in a locking position of the holding element with the reflector, there is an electrically conductive connection between the ignition device and the reflector.

Headlamp for vehicles

A circuit for operating an alternating current high pressure gas discharge lamp for a motor vehicle is described. The circuit includes a ballast, a superimposed pulse starter, a symmetrical lamp filter and a high pressure gas discharge lamp which is surrounded at least partially by a reflector, the symmetrical lamp filter being arranged between the high pressure gas discharge lamp and the superimposed pulse starter, with a filter capacitor arranged in parallel with the high pressure gas discharge lamp and with one reactance coil arranged in each of the connecting lines between this parallel circuit and the starter circuit, and with two lamp power supply lines at the input of the starter circuit, a capacitor being arranged between the reflector and at least one of the lamp power supply lines. This causes the interference emitted by the high pressure gas discharge lamp to be diverted into the starter, thus preventing the interference pulses from being applied to the vehicle ground and thus to the vehicle electric system.

Device for receiving a gas discharge lamp of a vehicle headlight

A diagnostic system for a ballast of a high-pressure gas discharge lamp in a motor vehicle includes the ballast and a separate light control module that controls the ballast via a supply line and in case of a fault, the ballast gives a modulated diagnostic signal via the supply line to the light control module. For this, in case of a fault, the ballast modulates a current that is received, using a switchable current sink, such that the light control module receives coded diagnostic information via the supply line.

A ballast for a high-pressure gas discharge lamp of a motor vehicle has: a primary pulsed direct-voltage converter including a conversion transformer, a primary-side converter switch (switching transistor), and a secondary-side rectifier circuit; an H-bridge circuit and an ignition circuit downstream of the direct-voltage converter; a pulse-width modulator whose output signal is applied to a control input of the primary-side convert switch; and a regulator whose output signal value is applied to an input of the pulse-width modulator and determines a pulse width of an output signal generated by the pulse-width modulator. In order to obtain a particularly-reliable ignition of the high-pressure gas discharge lamp, even when an operating voltage is reduced, the regulator controls the pulse width of the output signal generated by the pulse-width modulator as a function of a level of the operating voltage, specifically such that as the operating voltage decreases, an output voltage of the direct-voltage converter is increased.

A power-supply apparatus, or ballast, for starting and operating a high-pressure gas discharge lamp is fed from a battery and has at least one current- and/or power-controlled voltage converter which is coupled to a high-pressure gas discharge lamp via an ignition device and to a current/power control device via input and output terminals. A comparator of the current/power control device produces a switching signal dependent upon a lamp voltage input signal, and a capacitor, dependent upon the switching signal, is charged with a circuit having a first time constant and discharged with a circuit having a second time constant. The charge voltage of the capacitor is applied to the output to determine the level and duration of additional power supplied to the high-pressure gas discharge lamp after ignition. When the power-supply apparatus is turned off, the capacitor is coupled to a second reference voltage source and is charged by means of the first time constant. The comparator produces, when the power-supply apparatus is switched on, a switching signal when a lamp voltage limit is exceeded.

A status value is formed including 'lamp on' and 'lamp off' values, the actual value is a lamp actual-power-value and the desired value is a lamp desired-power-value, after ignition the additional power produced increases with increasing off time and with decreasing time duration of the last on time and the time span of effectiveness of the additional power increases with increasing off time and with decreasing time duration of the last on time of the high pressure gas discharge lamp.
