The subject of the invention is a method for identification of analytes with an ion mobility spectrometer by performing a series of measurements while varying the residence time of the analytes in the reaction space and identifying of monomer and nascent dimer analytes in the spectra so obtained.

A device and a process for indicating the exhaustion of an adsorption filter to indicate a necessary filter change in time is provided. The monitoring device has a gas concentration-measuring device (8), a temperature-measuring device (9) for determining the temperature of the ambient air, a memory unit (3) with a first memory field (4), in which filter data sets associated with individual filters are stored, with a second memory field (5), in which data specific of toxic substances are stored, and with a third memory field (6), which contains preset values for the ambient air humidity and the respiratory minute volume, as well as an input unit (7) for selecting preset values from the memory fields (4, 5, 6). The invention is directed to a method for determining the portion of a gaseous or vaporous component in a gas mixture utilizing a detecting substance which can enter into a chemical reaction with the component to produce a coloration of the detecting substance and utilizing a device for evaluating the coloration. The method includes the steps of: passing the gas mixture at a constant volume flow through a channel containing the detecting substance; detecting a reflectance signal I(t) within a defined spatially fixed length segment of the channel; determining a slope .DELTA.I/.DELTA.t at the start of the chemical reaction during a time interval .DELTA.t in which the detecting substance is present in excess; determining a saturation reflectance signal I.sup.100% toward the end of the chemical reaction which corresponds to an almost complete chemical conversion of the detecting substance within the length segment; and, determining a normalized slope in correspondence to the formal relationship: .DELTA.I/(I.sup.100% *.DELTA.t), which is proportional to the portion of the gaseous or vaporous component.

One or more reaction zones, formed as channels into a carrier, are each lined with a color indicator. This carrier is improved so that the reaction zones can be coated with the required indicators with uniform coating thickness. The coating can be individually changed and can be easily provided. The above is achieved with a carrier which is subdivided into an upper part and a lower part and a sandwich-like composite foil is held between these parts. A reagent carrier foil of the composite foil is provided with the reaction zones and is covered with a channel foil which delimits the reaction zones to have a channel-like shape. The invention is directed to an arrangement for detecting gaseous components in air wherein an air pumping device pumps a sample quantity through the testing tube. The air pumping device includes a receiver for the testing tube and the charge in the testing tube is evaluated. The arrangement is improved in that the detection of different components with the corresponding testing tubes is conducted automatically in that the data characteristic for the measurement is automatically considered and processed to a display of the measured values. For this purpose, the testing tube is provided at its outer periphery with a machine-readable memory whose data is detected by a read unit when the testing tube is introduced into the receiver of the pumping device. The device has a small structural shape, and is able to be carried and used easily and operated independently of an external energy supply. The heat treatment device is connectable to a number of different detectors. A container 1 through which the test gas can flow is provided with a chemical filler 5, 7, 8 capable of an exothermic reaction, and with a starter 4 initiating the reaction.

The invention relates to a detector device for determining components of a sample such as a gaseous sample. The determination is made with reagents which are present in two component quantities separate from each other in the storage condition of the detector device. The component quantities are brought into contact with each other to establish the use condition of the detector device. A simple production and reliable operation of such detector devices is obtained if at least one of the component quantities is contained in a plurality of particles during the storage condition with each particle having a reagent-containing core and an encapsulation surrounding the core. The encapsulation is made of a material which is solid at normal temperature and melts at a higher temperature which is unharmful to the remaining components of the detector device. The invention relates to a colorimetric gas measuring device having a porous substrate accessible to the air sample to be investigated. The substrate includes a conversion zone which converts a component to be detected into a substance which leads to a coloration of an indicator in a detection zone. The gas measuring device makes possible a simple and inexpensive quantitative detection of chlorosilanes. For this purpose, the conversion zone includes silica gel and the detection zone includes a carrier impregnated with an acid indicator.
