A delay line assembly for high-performance traveling-wave tubes having an electron beam generating system and an electron beam collector, includes a copper vacuum enclosure, a delay line in the form of a ring ribbon conductor disposed in the vacuum enclosure between the electron beam generating system and the electron beam collector, and a plurality of dielectric mounting rods extended parallel to the ring ribbon conductor in the vacuum enclosure for supporting the delay line, the ring ribbon conductor being formed of a relatively more highly thermally stressed tungsten part and a relatively less highly thermally stressed molybdenum part.

A gas-tight, high-frequency permeable window arrangement is provided between the input and output sides of a coaxial line, particularly for traveling wave tubes. The dielectric losses, particularly given high-performance tubes, are held so low that too high a thermal load and, thus, a fracture or, respectively, loss of seal of the window arrangement is avoided. For this purpose, a ceramic hollow cylinder is provided between the coaxial line of the input side and the coaxial line of the output side, the ceramic hollow cylinders surrounding the inner conductor of the coaxial line of the input side in the area of its transition to the coaxial line of the output side as a continuation of the outer conductor of the coaxial line of the input side.

A traveling wave tube has a delay line in the form of a spiral conductor supported within a metallic vacuum shell by a plurality of dielectric support rods. The support rods are covered at least partially with a metalization and soldered together with the delay line and the vacuum shell is shrunk onto the support rods, thus providing a simple structure having good heat dissipating properties.

An electron beam collector for a high power electron beam tube has a metallic hollow body for receiving the electron beam, a metallic outer body, and an insulating casing interposed between the inner and outer bodies. A plurality of thin sheet metal fins extend radially outwardly from the outer surface of the hollow body to the inner surface of said insulating casing. The fins are each soldered at their inner ends to the hollow body and at their outer ends to the insulating casing.

An electron beam collector for transit time tubes, in particular traveling wave tubes, includes a plurality of metallic electrodes which surround the electron beam and which are spaced from one another by insulating bodies. The spacing components are firmly and preferably directly connected to the electrodes which they serve to space. The electrodes are, in each case, embraced by a sleeve which has a thermal coefficient expansion that is small in comparison to the electrodes and matched to that of the spacing components.

A microwave window of dielectric material having a rectangular shape is received in a hollow, rectangular cross-section conductor with a multi-piece metal bandage positioned around a portion of the conductor and retaining the window in place, the bandage being soldered in place.
