A method for producing a freeform Fresnel surface having a number of Fresnel facets with a respective Fresnel segment surface and a trailing edge includes the production of the freeform Fresnel surface via machining processing of a starting body based on the construction data for the freeform Fresnel surface. With the aid of the circular cylinder casing surfaces and/or cone casing surfaces, the projection of the edges of the Fresnel facets on the x-y-plane represent circular paths for the creation of the construction data.

A method for producing an optical element includes a) providing a first shell which is transparent in the predetermined wavelength range, b) applying a coating which is optically effective for the predetermined wavelength range onto the structured portion, c) providing a second shell which is transparent in the predetermined wavelength range, which shell has an integral embodiment and a smooth lower side which has a complementary form to the form of the upper side, d) applying an adhesive layer which is transparent in the predetermined wavelength range onto the upper side of the first shell and/or the lower side of the second shell, and e) connecting the upper side of the first shell with the lower side of the second shell by means of the adhesive layer such that a two-shell optical element is produced, in which the optically effective structure is buried.

A method for producing an optical element includes providing a first partial body which is transparent for the predetermined wavelength range and including on its upper side a structured section, applying a coating which is optically effective for the predetermined wavelength range onto the structured section in order to form the optically effective structure, and applying a cover layer which is transparent for the predetermined wavelength range onto the upper side of the first partial body by means of casting of thermoplastic material and/or duroplastic material.

The invention provides multi-focal segmented lenses with boundaries that include at least one blended portion and at least one sharp portion. The lenses may possess, for example, the aesthetic advantage of blended multi-segment or progressive lenses while largely retaining the functional advantage of multi-segment lenses with sharp segment boundaries.

A method and a tool head are provided for the chip-removingly machining of pairwise symmetrical, optically effective surfaces, in particular of surfaces of progressive power spectacle lenses. The spectacle lenses are rotated about a first axis and are displaced along the axis. Further, a chip-removing tool is provided being positioned and being adapted to be fed-in, such that a cutting edge of the tool is guided over the surface along a spiralled path and along an elevation function given by the shape of the spectacle lens, when the latter is rotated about the first axis. For machining right side spectacle lenses and left side spectacle lenses, the right side spectacle lenses are rotated about the first axis in a first rotational direction, and the left side spectacle lenses are rotated about the first axis in a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction. The tool head comprises a chucking structure defining an axis of the tool head, and a tool carrier section having at least two lathing tools arranged at a periphery thereof. The one lathing tool of the pair is oriented in the one circumferential direction of the periphery, and the other lathing tool of the pair is oriented in the opposite circumferential direction of the periphery. At least one, preferably all of the lathing tools are provided with an adjustment device allowing an adjustment of a point of engagement of the lathing cutting edge.
