This invention is directed to N-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-pyridinium sulfates of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be the same or different, are a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical; X is the acid radical SO.sub.4.sup.= or HSO.sub.4.sup.- ; and n is 1 or 2.
