The invention relates to a method for producing a tank having high fluid-barrier properties. According to the invention, a specific polyamide composition containing impact-resistance modifying agents is used in a first step to produce components by means of injection moulding and, subsequently, said components are assembled in order to obtain the tank. The viscosity and gasoline permeability of the polyamide composition are sufficient to allow the production of tanks that provide an excellent trade-off between fluid-barrier properties and mechanical properties.

Process for the manufacture of tanks having high barrier properties toward fluids

The present invention relates to a gas storage tank, for storing gas, especially CNG, methane and/or hydrogen, said tank comprising a liner comprising a high-viscosity polyamide composition comprising a branched polyamide and an impact modifier, and to a process for manufacturing said the tank. More particularly, the composition comprises a copolyamide of the random tree type resulting from the reaction between a multifunctional monomer comprising at least three reactive functions to form an amide function, these functions being of two different types, difunctional monomers conventionally used in the manufacture of linear polyamides, and optionally difunctional monomers.

A polymer includes (a) one or more first monomeric units, each independently comprising at least one bicycloheptyl-polyether, bicycloheptenyl-polyether or branched (C-C)alkyl-polyether group per monomeric unit, wherein the bicycloheptyl-polyether or bicycloheptenyl-polyether group may optionally be substituted on one or more ring carbon atoms by one or two (C-C)alkyl groups per carbon atom, and (b) one or more second monomeric units, each independently comprising at least one pendant linear or branched (C-C)alkyl-polyether group per monomeric unit, provided that the first and second monomeric units cannot both comprise a branched (C-C)alkyl-polyether group and is useful as a component in liquid compositions, such as aqueous latex coating compositions, personal care compositions, home care compositions, and institutional or industrial care compositions.

Rheology modifier polymer

Composition including freeze thaw stability polymer such as a copolymer having a weight average molecular weight of at least about 30,000 grams per mole, a blend of a first polymer and a second polymer, a crosslinked alkali swellable acrylate copolymer, or at least one polymerizable reactive alkoxylated acrylate monomer. The copolymer has one or more first monomeric units and one or more second monomeric units. The one or more first monomeric units each independently including at least one bicycloheptyl-polyether, bicycloheptenyl-polyether or branched (C-C)alkyl-polyether group per monomeric unit. The bicycloheptyl-polyether or bicycloheptenyl-polyether group may optionally be substituted on one or more ring carbon atoms by one or two (C-C)alkyl groups per carbon atom. The one or more second monomeric units each independently including at least one pendant linear or branched (C-C)alkyl-polyether group per monomeric unit. The first and second monomeric units do not both have branched (C-C)alkyl-polyether group.

Compositions with freeze thaw stability

A high-viscosity polyamide composition including a branched polyamide is described. Also described, is a relationship between a high-viscosity polyamide composition and a composition including a copolyamide of a statistical tree type resulting from a reaction between a multifunctional monomer including at least three reactive functions in order to form an amide function. Further described, are three reactive functions of two different types and bifunctional monomers used in the manufacture of linear polyamides. A resulting copolyamide can have a very low melt flow index relative to the linear polyamide and improved impact resistance properties. Lastly, use of such a composition for extrusion blow-molding articles is described.

The invention concerns a method for preparing polymers by free radical polymerisation comprising (i) preparing a mini-emulsion containing: at least an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, at least a control agent selected among xanthates, dithio-carbamates, thioether-thiones, the xanthates comprising phosphorus and optionally fluorine and dithiophosphoroesters, an aqueous solution, a surfactant, and a co-surfacant, and (ii) reacting said mini-emulsion, in the presence of a free radical source, at a sufficient temperature and/or for a sufficient time interval to form the polymers.
