A split thread insert is disclosed with integral cooling channels utilized for the continuous internal circulation of cooling fluid around a molding surface of the split thread insert, wherein the molding surface forms a neck area of a preform during an injection molding process. The molding surface of the split thread insert is semi-circular with a profile corresponding with a threaded area of the preform. The split thread insert is assembled from two or more cut pieces, wherein at least one of the cut pieces includes a curved groove formed therein proximate the molding surface for forming a curved cooling fluid channel when the cut pieces are joined to form the split thread insert. The cooling fluid channel includes a flow diverter positioned therein for defining a portion of a continuous cooling fluid circuit of the split thread insert.

A system for the post-treatment of preforms () produced by means of injection moulding, including a removal element () having at least one receiving element () for receiving a preform (), and a device for moving the removal element () between two tool halves of an opened injection moulding mould and for moving the removal element () out of the opened injection moulding mould, a post-treatment element () having at least one post-treatment pin () having a pin-shaped passage element (), of which one end can be connected to the environment or a vacuum or reduced-pressure source and of which the other end has an outlet () for a coolant, and a motion device with which the removal element () can be reciprocated relative to the post-treatment element () between a first position in which the post-treatment pin () is positioned within the receiving element () and a second position in which the post-treatment pin () is not positioned within the receiving element (), wherein the removal element () and the post-treatment element () are so designed that in the first position coolant can be introduced by way of the coolant inlet into a preform held in the receiving element () in such a way that it can flow between the inside wall of the preform () and the outside wall of the pin-shaped passage element () to the coolant outlet () and can be discharged by way of the passage element ().

System for post-treating and transferring preforms

A system for the after-treatment of parisons () produced in an injection molding mold, comprising at least two after-treatment tools. To provide a system for the after-treatment of parisons produced in an injection molding mold, by means of which a plurality of after-treatment tools can be easily positioned, it is proposed in accordance with the invention that there is provided a positioning device for positioning the first after-treatment tool in at least one positioning direction, and the at least two after-treatment tools are connected together so that with the positioning device for positioning the first after-treatment tool at least one further after-treatment tool can be positioned by suitable positioning of the first after-treatment tool.

A cavity member for a mold cavity structure for the production of hollow body moldings, wherein the cavity member has a substantially hollow-cylindrical element, wherein a cooling passage is provided at the outside of the hollow-cylindrical element. To provide a cavity member which is simple to manufacture and which permits more effective cooling of the cavity member it is proposed in accordance with the invention that there are provided one or more guide elements for forming the cooling passage, wherein the guide elements and the hollow-cylindrical element are in the form of separate parts.

Mould cavity with decoupled cooling-channel routing

A bottom insert for a mold cavity for the production of moldings of plastic material. The mold cavity has a main body with a hot side which has a recess for receiving molten plastic material under pressure and a cold side having a recess, the inside contour of which is intended to come into contact with the molding to be produced and to shape the outside contour thereof. A gate () is provided that connects the recess of the hot side to the recess of the cold side and is intended to introduce molten plastic material from the hot side into the cold side. In accordance with the invention there is provided a device for thermal insulation within the bottom insert between the hot side and the cold side of the bottom insert to permit more rapid cooling of the cold side by restricting heat flow from the hot side.

A neck block of a molding tool for the production of a hollow body preform by means of injection molding, wherein the neck block has a main body with a shaping surface which is adapted to the external contour of a neck portion of the hollow body preform to be produced and is provided to come into contact in the injection molding operation with the neck portion of the hollow body preform, wherein furthermore there is provided at least one cooling passage for a cooling fluid which at least portion-wise extends substantially parallel to the shaping surface. The neck block is further provided with an inlet and an outlet and an inlet passage and an outlet passage which connect the inlet and the outlet respectively to the cooling passage. The cooling passage is arranged closer to the shaping surface than the inlet and the outlet. The cooling passage has at least one portion which extends substantially parallel to the shaping surface and which extends within the main body so that the walls thereof are formed by the main body, and a connecting portion which adjoins said portion and the walls of which are formed in part by the main body and in part by a closure element fitted onto the main body.

Neck block cooling

A bottom insert for an injection mold, which insert is of a two-part configuration having a hot part which has a recess of the hot side and a cold part which has a recess of the cold side, wherein the cold part is arranged at least partially within the hot part so that the hot part at least portion-wise surrounds the cold part. The two parts of the bottom insert are preferably separable and the. hot part preferably has an opening in opposite relationship to the recess of the hot side for receiving the cold part. Further, the cold part and the hot part are desirably sealed off relative to each other, desirably by O-rings. In general, all surfaces which are provided for contact with the molding to be produced are arranged at the cold part. An insulating coating, an insulating membrane and/or a spacing element is desirably provided at the contact surface between the hot part and the cold part.

Method and apparatus for cooling molded plastic pieces preferably includes a take out structure/step configured to hold the plurality of plastic parts oriented such that closed ends thereof are disposed toward an inside of the take out structure and open ends thereof are disposed toward an outside of the take out structure. A movement structure/step is configured to cause relative movement between the take out structure and at least one of a first cooling station and a second cooling station. The first cooling station includes a first cooling structure/step configured to provide a cooling fluid to an inside of the plurality of plastic parts through the open ends thereof. The second cooling station includes a second cooling structure/step configured to provide a cooling fluid to an inside of the plurality of plastic parts through the open ends thereof.

Method for post mold cooling of plastic pieces

A cooling tube assembly for operating on a malleable molded plastic part. The cooling tube assembly comprising a porous tube/insert having a profiled inner conditioning surface, and a vacuum structure configured to cooperate with the porous tube. In use, the vacuum develops a reduced pressure adjacent the inner conditioning surface to cause an outer surface of the malleable molded plastic part, locatable within the cooling tube assembly, to contact the inner conditioning surface of the porous insert so as to allow a substantial portion of the outer surface of the malleable part, upon cooling, to attain a profile substantially corresponding to the profile of the inner conditioning surface. The cooling tube assembly further including a suction channel therein that is configured to cooperate with a valve member for the control of a suction flow therethrough that assists in a transferring of the molded article into the cooling tube assembly.

Post mold cooling apparatus and method having transverse movement preferably includes structure and/or steps for cooling a plurality of plastic articles molded on a row of mold cores. A post mold cooling device is provided having (i) a first row of cooling tubes configured to hold a first plurality of the molded plastic articles, and (ii) a second row of cooling tubes configured to hold a second plurality of the molded plastic articles. A cooling station is disposed adjacent the cooling device and is configured to provide a cooling fluid to an interior of both the first and second pluralities of molded articles inside the respective first and second rows of cooling tubes. Movement structure is configured to (i) provide a rotational movement to cause the first and second pluralities of molded articles inside the respective first and second rows of cooling tubes to be presented to the cooling station, and (ii) provide a transverse, axial movement to alternately cause the first row of cooling tubes and then the second row of cooling tubes to be presented to the row of mold cores.
