A compiler system and method for providing a drug library to patient devices includes a memory and a processing circuit. The memory stores a drug library in a first format, the drug library comprising drug data to be used by software on the patient devices to program the patient devices to administer a drug to a patient according to a protocol determined at least in part by a user. The processing circuit configured to identify a type of patient device from prestored patient device types and select a compiler program from prestored compiler programs. The selected program is used translate the drug library from the first format into a selected second format. The translated drug library is stored in the second format and distributed to a patient device of the identified type.

The processing circuit receives infusion pump history data from a plurality of infusion pumps, including an indication that a user inputted to an infusion pump a parameter which was outside of a prestored limit, an indication that a user was notified that the parameter was outside the prestored limit, an indication that the infusion pump parameter was returned to within the prestored limit, and an indication that the user started infusion on the pump at the parameter within the prestored limit. The system also includes a plurality of programmable patient devices coupled to the server, each patient device having an individual drug library stored thereon, the individual drug library comprising a reference only to at least one of the drug definitions in the master drug library. In addition, a method for controlling a plurality of drug libraries includes storing on a computing device a master drug library, the master drug library comprising a plurality of drug definitions. The method also includes storing on each of a plurality of programmable patient devices an individual drug library, the individual drug library comprising a reference only to at least one of the drug definitions in the master drug library.

A head-mounted display device for interface with a blood processing machine using a disposable component having tubing and a blood component receptacle includes a frame configured to be mounted on a person's head and configured to hold a lens in front of an eye of the person. The display device includes a display, a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with a network, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit is coupled to the frame, the display and the wireless transceiver and receives instructions for training the person how to use the blood processing machine. The processing circuit overlays indicators, text, highlighting and/or icons on the blood processing machine as seen from a field of view of the person based on the instructions to train the person in using the blood processing machine.

An example tangible computer readable storage medium includes instructions that, when executed, cause a processor to at least launch a first user interface to configure a first user group based on a first role, generate a role mapping in response to configuring the first user group based on the first association, launch a second user interface to configure the first user group based on a first deployment location, generate a location mapping in response to configuring the first user group based on the second association, generate a combined location and role mapping based on the role mapping and the location mapping, and launch a third user interface to facilitate interaction of the first user account with the medical device in response to determining whether the first user account is authorized to access the medical device based on the combined mapping.

A method of recording a state of an apheresis machine or a dialysis machine having a disposable component disposed thereon. The disposable component has tubing and a blood component bag. The disposable component is configured to be installed on the apheresis device or dialysis machine by a human operator. The method includes acquiring with a camera an image of a forward-facing external surface portion of the apheresis machine or dialysis machine and the tubing and the blood component bag of the disposable component. The image is acquired automatically without requiring user input. The method includes recording medical device information for the apheresis machine or dialysis machine comprising the image. The method includes generating a message comprising the image and transmitting the message comprising the image to a remote computer.

A method of storing a signed medical record in a database includes performing an apheresis procedure, generating a medical record comprising data relating to the apheresis procedure, wherein the medical record is not electronically signed by a user, and transmitting the unsigned medical record to a server computer. The method further includes storing the unsigned medical record in a database, transmitting a notification over a network that the unsigned medical record has been stored in the database, presenting a user interface to the user for facilitating receipt of sign off credentials for the unsigned medical record and receiving an electronic signature for the unsigned medical record. The electronic signature is stored in association with the unsigned medical record in the database to form the signed medical record.

The display device has a display, a wireless circuit configured to communicate with a network, a camera, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit retrieves instructions for servicing the blood processing machine and overlays indicators, text, highlighting and/or icons on the blood processing machine as seen from a field of view of the wearer based on the instructions. The wearer is thereby assisted in servicing the blood processing machine.

A method of improving network access security on a medical device includes opening a communication port on the medical device to establish a communication session on a network and transmitting medical device data to a computer over the network during the communication session. After the medical device data is transmitted to the computer, the method includes transmitting to the computer a request for a command from the computer during the communication session. The method also includes receiving a command from the computer, processing the command, and closing the communication port on the medical device.

A computer-implemented medical device management method for distributing data sets to a plurality of medical devices in child locations of a parent health organization includes providing a first data set, receiving a first user input to distribute the first data set, distributing the first data set to medical devices located in child locations within the parent organization, and facilitating operation of the medical devices according to the first data set. The method also includes providing a second data set different from the first, receiving, after the first user input, a second user input to distribute the second data set to target medical devices, commencing distribution of the second data set prior to completing distribution of the first data set, and stopping distribution of the first data set for all medical devices that have not yet received the first data set and that are target medical devices.

A system and method of enabling software features on medical devices uses a local server disposed at a medical facility and a license server remote from the local server. The method includes generating a software enabling indicator at the license server, the software enabling indicator comprising a numerical code representing a number of licenses to be allocated for a software feature. The method includes providing a digitally signed electronic document based on the software enabling indicator, transmitting the electronic document from the license server to the local server, and authenticating the license server at the local server using the electronic document. The method includes generating at the local server a plurality of second digital certificates based on the software enabling code, transmitting the second digital certificates to each of the medical devices, and enabling a software feature on the medical devices based on the second digital certificates.

A system and method of recording a state of a medical device having a disposable component includes operating the medical device to provide a medical procedure using a disposable component. The disposable component is installed on an external surface of the medical device housing by a human operator and removable therefrom for disposal. The system and method include detecting an error condition on the medical device and, in response, acquiring an image from a camera coupled to the medical device. The image, representing the disposable component and the external housing, is stored in a memory of the medical device and is accessible for later retrieval.
