The invention relates to a method for turning and reorienting the displacement direction of strips (), especially of a thin hot strip. The strip can be turned about any angle by means of at least one deflection roller, with roller banks () which are arranged on the circumference of the deflection roller, and which respectively comprise a plurality of individual rollers. Plastic and elastic deformations are avoided due to the fact that the strip is supported at various points by the individual rollers of successive roller banks (). The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method. Said device enables the roller banks placed one after the other in the strip deflection direction to be staggered in relation to each other in such a way that the contact surfaces of their rollers with the strip are staggered from bank to bank, by one roller width ().

Method and device for turning strips

A device for pickling or cleaning rolled steel strip which is moved in the form of loops through several pickling and cleaning containers arranged within a treatment line, wherein at least one strip side is subjected tot he action of a pickling or cleaning medium. For this purpose, squirting or spraying units are provided which can be switched on or off and/or are adjustable with regard to their spraying width and/or are operated with controllable squirting or spraying pressure and/or volume flow. Deflection rolls for deflecting the strip are arranged before and after the treatment line for deflecting the strip out of the horizontal strip running plane into an upright vertical strip running plane and vice versa, wherein the deflection rolls are elevated or slanted relative to the horizontal strip running plane.

Method and device for scouring and cleaning rolled steel strip

A horizontal strip storage unit, particularly for sheet steel, includes a looping carriage which is movable on a frame at a variable distance relative to a stationary strip guide roller. The looping carriage has at least one guide roller for a strip storage loop whose length is variable. Several support carriages with support rollers are arranged between the strip guide roller and the looping carriage. A flexible endless drive element guided around guide rollers is connected to the looping carriage. The drive element is guided so as to interact with a drive wheel of each support carriage, wherein the travel mechanism of each support carriage relative to the travel path of the looping carriage is derived from the flexible drive element. A second flexible drive element is tensioned along the frame in the area of the path of movement of the support carriages, wherein the second flexible drive element is guided over a lower drive wheel of each support carriage so as to interact with the drive element, and wherein the first drive wheel of each support carriage interacting with the first flexible drive element is kinematically connected through a gear unit to the second drive wheel.

Horizontal strip storage unit

A method of guiding a steel strip during its passage through a continuous strip treatment plant equipped with a series of treatment stations, wherein the travel direction and/or travel track of the strip can be adjusted as desired and/or the strip is turned over as desired for making it possible to carry out a visual inspection of the strip. The method includes introducing the strip into a strip turning tower and guiding the strip, similar to a vertical looping storage unit, over vertically spaced-apart upper and lower guide rollers in order to twist the strip from roller to roller by a certain angle, such that any desired twisting angle can be adjusted between strip entry and strip exit of the strip turning tower. An arrangement for carrying out the method includes a strip turning tower constructed with a plurality of upper and lower strip guide rollers arranged vertically spaced apart from each other, wherein the rollers are turned in travel direction of the strip from roller to roller in the same direction relative to the strip inlet axis by angle values which add up to 180.degree., such that the strip is twisted by a partial angle value as it travels through a pair of rollers formed by an upper and a lower roller, and the strip is turned from the bottom side thereof and vice versa when the sum of all twisting angle values is 180.degree..

Method for guiding a steel strip during its passage through a continuous

A feeding system for strip material for transporting a strip over a conveying distance of limited length, particularly in treatment plants for metal strip. The feeding system includes a transfer carriage which is guided on a rail guide. The transfer carriage has a chamber for receiving the strip and is provided with a device for temporarily holding the beginning of the strip. The transfer carriage has at both sides thereof a reversible linear motor each for driving the transfer carriage over the conveying distance.

A coil transportation system includes air cushion vehicles guided for traveling along a travel path comprising straight lines and curves. Each vehicle comprises mechanical side guides at its longitudinal right and left hand sides. The side guides are actuatable alternatively from the right and left hand sides. The side guides are arranged for associating with floor mounted routing guides, for guiding the air cushion vehicles along a travel path and transversely to the travel path.

Coil transportation system

A strip storage unit for a continuous operation of rolling mill trains, particularly a loop-forming strip storage unit for sheet metal strips in strip treatment plants. The strip storage unit includes a loop carriage having at least one deflection roller for a strip loop. The loop carriage is movable on guides for changing the length of the loop. Support carriages which are also movable on guides and are provided with at least one support roller each are connected to the loop carriage through traction members, such as, ropes, chains or the like. The storage unit further includes at least one feed roller and a run-out roller for the strip. At least one cam drum is arranged at each support carriage. The traction members travel on the surfaces of the drum. For maintaining an equal distance between the loop carriage and the adjacent support carriage and between the support carriages when the loop carriage is moved by a certain distance, a torque motor acts on each cam drum.
