This invention relates to an improved multiple sliver absorbent product having a bottom sliver with low density edges. The low density edges engage a low density upper sliver and provide traction between the slivers which aids in stabilizing the product.

Multiple sliver absorbent product

A body for absorbing and retaining body fluid is provided containing a fluid repellent insert which substantially separates layers of absorbent material along the longitudinal sides of the absorbent layers so as to prevent leakage of body fluid along the longitudinal sides.

Release coating composition

A method of improving the wet-strength characteristics of a plaster of Paris cast is disclosed. The cast bandage is immersed in dip water which contains 2%-15% by weight of a paraffin wax. The wax is dispersed in the dip water by a nonionic or cationic surfactant, and the dip water is maintained at a pH of 7.5 or less. The resulting cast has improved water-resistant properties.

Water resistant orthopedic cast

An adhesive tape which includes an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive mass coated on one side of a saturated paper, said paper (1) being saturated with from 20 to 75 parts per hundred parts paper of an acrylic polymer having a T.sub.g of less than 20.degree. C., and (2) comprising a mixture of woodpulp and thermoplastic fibers, said woodpulp comprising from about 10 to 75% by weight of the paper, and said thermoplastic fibers ranging in length, on the average, from about 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch and being selected from the group consisting of polyamide, polyester, polypropylene and polyethylene fibers, and a backsize coated on the other side of said paper, said backsize preferably being selected from the group consisting of styrene copolymers having a T.sub.g of at least 35.degree. C., silicones, fluorocarbons, long chain fatty acids, long chain fatty acid derivatives and mixtures thereof. Preferably the pressure sensitive mass is a blend of a copolymer of 2 ethylhexyl acrylate and vinyl acetate with a copolymer of 2 ethylhexyl acrylate and tert-butyl acrylamide. The instant tape is especially useful as a surgical tape and has an improved combination of the properties of conformability, straight tear and resistance to curling. Moreover, because of the high amounts of woodpulp included in the paper utilized in making the instant tape, an economical product is obtained.

Paper surgical tape

The instant invention relates to a novel water resistant orthopedic bandage which includes a hardenable plaster of Paris composition, including a reactive silicone polymer supported on a flexible carrier. The amount of plaster of Paris may range from 100 to 600 grams per square yard of carrier, preferably from 396 to 425. The amount of reactive silicone may range from 0.5 to 20 parts per hundred parts plaster of Paris, preferably from 0.5 to 10, e.g. about 4 parts silicone per 100 parts plaster of Paris. The novel orthopedic bandages of the instant invention show improved water resistance throughout the curing cycle of the bandage. Also, when compared to the prior art plaster of Paris bandages the instant bandages have improved 'green strength'.
