There is provided a load detection device for use in a warehouse. The load detection device includes one or more load modules () configured to support a load () and obtain a data of the load (). Each of the one or more load modules () includes an electronic load cell () for converting weight or force applied on the electronic load cell () by the load () into an electrical signal to provide raw weight data of the load, a mounting base () coupled to the electronic load cell () for supporting the electronic load cell () to be placed against a ground, and a platform () coupled to an upper part of the electronic load cell () to increase an area of contact with the load ().

Device, system and method for load detection

Respective electric drive motors () drive left and right drive wheels () having friction brakes, including an electromechanical service brake () and an auxiliary brake () mechanically biasing them to a braked state. An elongate handlebar () for user control is mounted via a pair of force-sensing couplings () including a resilient member () and a load sensor () sensing forces applied by a user to the handlebar and transmitting respective load signals. A controller () receives the load signals and controls a current applied to the electric drive motors () so as to amplify the force sensed by the force-sensing couplings and to generate a torque proportional to a force applied by the user to the handlebar and to actuate an electric release actuator of the auxiliary brake () when the force applied by the user to the handlebar exceeds a threshold.

A collision avoidance apparatus for use with an automated guided vehicle (AGV) includes: an object detection sensor assembly; a controller in electronic communication with the sensor assembly; the object detection sensor assembly configured to generate a detection signal to define a sensing region and receive a reflected detection signal; the controller configured to: process the reflected signal to detect presence of an object based on a parameter of the reflected signal, define a boundary within the sensing region, dynamically adjust the size and/or shape of the boundary, and determine if the detected object is located within the boundary.

An automated guided vehicle includes a chassis and a load supporting apparatus positioned on the chassis, the load supporting apparatus including a platform to support a load, one or more weight sensors located in contact with the platform, the one or more weight sensors configured to provide a signal indicative of a weight of the load on the platform, and an electronic processor arranged in electronic communication with the one or more weight sensors. The electronic processor is configured to receive the signal from each of the one or more weight sensors, and the electronic processor is configured to process the signal and determine stability of the load on the platform.
