Disclosed herein is a method to determine a geolocation that includes receiving, by a processor, from a base station (BS), radio predictors, a user equipment (UE) location history, and a geolocation of a first UE for which a minimization of drive test (MDT) mode is activated, radio predictors and a UE location history of a second UE for which the MDT mode is not activated, and cell physical parameters. The method includes training, by the processor, a machine learning (ML) model at least based on the radio predictors, the UE location history, and the geolocation of the first UE, and the cell physical parameters. The method includes executing, by the processor, the ML model to determine the azimuth of the second UE and providing, by the processor, to a downstream application, a geolocation of the second UE at least based on the azimuth and the TA of the second UE.

System and method for applying machine learning to mobile geolocation

A computer-implemented method of monitoring a radio access network (RAN) is provided. The method includes receiving access stratum data that is a function of cell trace records (CTRs) associated with wireless communication transported to or from one or more cells of the RAN, wherein the CTRs are obtained at a granularity sufficient to detect one or more events, the events defining a segment or occurring during a segment, wherein a segment is defined by the beginning, end, or any handovers of a call included in the wireless communication. The method further includes detecting in the access stratum data one or more state transitions as indicated by the events and outputting an enhanced session record (ESR) including information processed from the access stratum data associated with the respective one or more detected state transitions.

Radio access network service mediated enhanced session records for artificial intelligence or machine learning

A computer method and system for analyzing performance of a 5G communication network for determining 4G traffic offload characteristics. Determine relative spectrum efficiency for data downlinks and uplinks in the 5G communication network and determine values for pairs of 4G LTE primary cells and 5G NR primary cells. A heatmap is generated utilizing the determined values for depicting 4G traffic offload characteristics in a 5G communication network wherein the generated heatmap includes a generated line depicting a connection between a LTE PCell to a 5G NR PScell wherein a width of the generated line is scalable relative to a determined percentage of 5G utilized traffic in the 5G communication system.

Monitoring wireless traffic efficiency in a communication system

A method for monitoring spectral efficiency in a wireless network includes determining total number of resource blocks or resource elements allocated for each of one or more calls in the wireless network during a given time period and determining a corresponding total number of bits transmitted for each of the one or more calls during the given time period. A spectral efficiency metric is calculated for each of the one or more calls based at least in part on the total number of bits transmitted during the given time period and the total number of resource blocks or resource elements allocated for transmission during the given time period. A heat map for each of the one or more calls is generated based on geographic locations of the one or more calls.

Control plane signaling data comprising geographic location data from network monitoring equipment connected to a communications network is collected. Video session data comprising data of a plurality of video sessions from video monitoring equipment connected to the communications network is collected. A method for calibrating geolocation analytic system in a wireless network includes receiving a first data set including measurement data associated with a mobile device connected to the wireless network from a first data source. A second data set comprising external geo-location data associated with the mobile device is received from a second data source. The first data set is compared to the second data set to estimate geo-location of the mobile device and to identify one or more errors using calibration function. The identified one or more errors are corrected based on the comparison.

In some embodiments, the contributing device is location-aware and in some embodiments, the contributing device is location-unaware.

Before a party is admitted into a conference call, the party's communication connection to the conference bridge is tested for quality. If the quality is acceptable, the party is admitted into the conference. If the quality is not acceptable, an attempt is made to improve the quality. If the attempt fails, the party is given the choice of either hanging up and calling back or being admitted into the conference in a restricted mode that limits the adverse effects of the poor connection on the conference.

Techniques are disclosed for selecting transmission resources in a telecommunications system that comprises different networks, where the techniques are based on the quality of the waveform of transmitted media such as audio or video signals, in contrast to the quality of service of the network that transports the media. The problem with only using quality of service to determine which resources to allocate to a call is that quality of service does not guarantee that the quality experienced by the call's participants is satisfactory just because a component network's quality of service is satisfactory. For example, the end-to-end delay experienced in a VoIP network might be satisfactory for most data transfers, but might still be inadequate to control the echo experienced by telecommunications users. The disclosed techniques evaluate the waveform quality (i.e., in terms of loudness, noise, echo, and so forth) of media that is transmitted along a path and allocate alternative resources accordingly.

Waveform quality feedback for the selection of gateways

A communications system includes a network that is coupled to a number of terminals, at least some of which are capable of audio or other forms of real-time interactive data communications over the network. Each of the terminals includes a network adapter that is capable of detecting a collision with another terminal on the network. If a collision is detected, transmission of a data frame is aborted, and a backoff time delay is selected. The backoff time delay is selected from a group of delay periods that vary at a rate different than exponentially with a number of collisions. The group of one or more delay periods can contain delay periods that increase linearly with the number of collisions, delay periods that increase according to some power of n, where n is the number of collisions, or a delay period that is selected at random based on a predetermined mean backoff delay. Alternatively, the selected backoff time delay is selected from a group of delay periods that increases exponentially with the number of collisions, but with a maximum value set that is less than the maximum set according to conventional backoff algorithms.

The present invention provides methods, devices, and systems for determining the availability of at least a part of a communications network in the context of alternate routing. Moreover, the present invention is adapted to consider network flow variations based on device outages all while accounting for the actual probability associated with various re-routing scenarios.

Alternative methodology in assessing network availability

A system for analyzing an availability of at least part of a communications network is provided. The network includes a set of network components, that are further divided into first and second subsets of network components. Each of the first and second subsets includes a plurality of different components in the network component set. The system includes an availability prediction assessment tool that is operable to (I) determine a first traffic flow exchanged between first and second endpoint groupings in the first subset, the first traffic flow being a first percentage of a total traffic flow in the communications network; (ii) for a plurality of first subset members involved in the first traffic flow, determine a corresponding downtime; (iii) determine a total of the downtimes corresponding to the plurality of first subset members; (iv) multiply the total of the downtimes by the first percentage to provide a first traffic weighted total downtime for the first subset; and (v) determine an availability of the first subset for the first traffic flow based on the first traffic weighted total downtime for the first subset.
