The invention is directed to a stereomicroscope having a specimen changer which is at least so configured that it is rotatable about a column of a column stand and the specimen changer has receptacles for specimens arranged on a circular path passing through the viewing beam path. The specimen changer includes an inner stationary part and an annular-shaped outer part which includes the receptacles for the specimens. The specimen receptacles have a diameter suitable for receiving commercially available petri dishes.

Stereomicroscope having a specimen changer

Coaxial drive for the object stage of a microscope, with a stationary guide supporting a first stage part which is horizontally displaceable in a first displacement direction. The first stage part supports a second stage part which is displaceable horizontally in a second displacement direction. A first control element displaces the first stage part in the first displacement direction and a second control element displaces the second stage part in the second displacement direction. The two control elements are rotatable about a coaxial axis and spatially retain their respective positions during displacement of the first stage part or second stage. A first force transmission device swivels about a second axis and displaces the second stage part. A second force transmission device acts on the second stage part. A rotating rod is provided between the first and second force transmission devices and transmit a rotation of the first to the second force transmission device. The rotating rod slides in the guide during the displacement of the second stage part, and either the guide or the rotating rod is swivelable about the second axis with the first force transmission device and is rotated by the first force transmission, and the force transmission is carried out by transmission of the rotating movement to the rotating rod or to the guide.

Coaxial drive for the object stage of a microscope

A microscope stage comprising a first stage part and a second stage part. The first stage part is supported so as to be displaceable along a first displacement direction in the second stage part. The second stage part is supported so as to be displaceable in the stationary guide along a second displacement direction at right angles to the first displacement direction. The microscope stage has a first operating element for the first displacement direction and a second operating element for the second displacement direction. A drive device is included for allowing the second operating element to communicate with the second stage part. The first operating element and second operating element are arranged to be stationary with respect to the first and second displacement directions. A first lever is provided at a first end which is swivelable about a stationary vertical first rotational axis. A second lever is supported at a first end at the second stage part so as to be swivelable in a vertical second rotational axis. The first and second levers are connected with one another at their respective ends via at least one articulation point. The second lever engages a first rotatable end with the first stage part to generate the displacement of the first stage part in the second stage part along the first displacement direction. A mechanism is provided for the transmission of a rotational movement from the first operating element via the first rotational axis and the articulation point, to the first end of the second lever.

Microscope stage

The invention relates to a microphotographic apparatus which superimposes one set of film format markings on an image recorded by a film type held by a camera attachment. Specifically, the apparatus has two opaque carriers with multiple sets of transparent markings. These carriers can be moved relative to one another such that only one set of markings on the first carrier is aligned with a corresponding set of markings on the second carrier and therefore, when light is projected through the carriers only one set of markings is superimposed on the recorded image.

An object holder for use on a microscope exhibits a frame having a shaped-on, deeper-lying contact surface, in which air suction openings are disposed for the fixing of the respective object. An adjustable abutment strip with a shaped-on bearing surface is provided, in order to retain plate-shaped objects, especially wafers or masks of the most widely varying shapes and sizes.

Universal object holder for microscopes

A device for checking the adjustment of the light source in an incident light microscope includes a centering cylinder having a configuration similar to an objective which is set into the revolving lens turret and can thus be moved into the path of the illuminating beam. The centering cylinder has a bottom plate with markings, for example, in the form of concentric rings and cross-hairs, located approximately in the rear focal plane of the lenses. The light source is thereby imaged on the markings. Observation is effected through an orifice in the jacket of the centering cylinder, which may be rotated around the optical axis. Focusing and adjustment may then be affected by adjusting the collecting lens and/or the lamp housing.

Disclosed is a traversing microtome having a base (10) and a movable carriage (13). A blade holder (12) with a blade (16) is mounted on the base (10), and an object holder (14) is mounted on the carriage (13). To carry out the cutting process, the carriage (13), together with the object holder (14) and the object (15), is moved against the stationary blade (16). Between the guide rails (18,18') of the base (10) and the carriage (13) a bearing gap (30) with a width of a few microns is created by means of air bearing elements (21,21'), and consequently only a minimal force is required to move the slide (13). Between the air bearing elements (21,21'), magnets (22,22') are arranged so that their attracting forces act against the air pressure of the air bearing elements. In this manner, the force needed to arrest the motion of the carriage (13) at any given location of the guide rails (18,18') is extremely low. The carriage (13) cannot be moved when the supply of air is interrupted. The air bearing elements are suspended in the manner of a pendulum and are adjustable in height; the latter is true for the magnets (22,22') also. In view of the air bearings, no lubrication is required for the guide rails (18,18').

Disclosed is a handle adapted for grasping by the hand of an operator for operating a pivotable machine part, comprising a thumb supporting member attached to the machine part for supporting the operator's thumb and a grip part connected to the machine part for gripping by the rest of the fingers of the operator's hand. Also disclosed is a microtome embodying this handle.

Disclosed is a microscope adapted for accepting one or more attachment illuminating devices, which have different dimensions and are designed to be supplied with electric power either from a source within the microscope or external to the microscope. The microscope comprises a microscope stand comprising a base and a vertical support member; at least one source of electrical energy located inside of the stand for powering an illuminating device; and first means, associated with the stand, for connecting any of a variety of attachment illuminating devices which have different dimensions and are designed to be supplied with electric power either from the electrical energy source or from an electrical energy source external to the microscope. This connecting means includes means, adapted to cooperate with complementary coupling means on each attachment illuminating device, for mechanically coupling an attachment illuminating device, and means, adapted to cooperate with complementary electrical coupling means on each attachment illuminating device which is designed to be supplied with electrical energy from the electrical energy source, for electrically coupling the electrical energy source with an attachment illuminating device which is designed to be supplied with electrical energy from said electrical source. Thus, the attachment means provide for direct standardized attachment of all attachment illuminating devices having different dimensions without the use of any size adapting means.

Disclosed is a microscope stand which permits a lens turret and an eyepiece mounted on the stand to be mounted close enough together to eliminate the necessity of an intervening tube lens. In permitting this mounting of the lenses, a recess is provided in the stand which substantially weakens the mounting structure. Vertical webs are provided in the preferred embodiment which extend adjacent the recess and external to the lens turret which strengthen the microscope stand and mounting structure.

Photomicrographic exposure meter for cameras attached to microscopes in which part of the picture-taking beam is reflected by means of a beam-splitter and where the reflected beam part projects an image of the object onto an image plane, measuring field stop is located in the image plane with an aperture for detail or spot measurements and an insertable photo-electric detector cooperates therewith downstream of the stop in the direction of light. The beam part is reflected by at least one specular means (12,61) to the measuring field stop (13). The stop is gimbal-suspended and means are provided both for displacing the gimbal-suspended specular means (12,61) and for viewing the object detail appearing in the stop aperture.
