A motor vehicle door has an outer panel and an inner panel. The outer panel is made up of a pair of double-walled, hollow structural members which are self-supporting. A door lock and door hinges are mounted on the outer panel. The inner panel, which is connected to the outer panel, carries all remaining accessories associated with the door, such as the operating mechanisms for a window mounted on the door.

Motor vehicle door

A method and equipment for manufacturing a light metal vehicle wheel that has a rim drop base and a club-shaped thickened portion extending axially outward. The club-shaped portion has a tread on its outside surface for use in case of flat tire and has rim horns at its outer end. The method and equipment include pressing the rim horns radially inward by compression rings of a mold die. A radial inner surface of the club-shaped thickened portion is machined by chip removal so as to form an undercut next to the rim horn.

Method for the manufacture of a light metal vehicle wheel

Disclosed herein is a compound joint in which a lower section and an upper section are mated along a common contact plane. Means for positively interlocking the sections are provided in each section. A depressed area on the surface of each of the sections is oriented along the common contact plane, such that when the sections are interlocked, the depressed areas form an enclosed tube. A spreader tube comprising a metal that undergoes cold work hardening during expansion can be positioned within the enclosed tube, whereby the expansion of the spreader tube within the enclosed tube to a volume larger than the volume of the enclosed tube causes said interlocked sections to be permanently jointed.

Compound joint and method for its production

A method and apparatus for producing a pipe connection are disclosed. The apparatus includes an inner pipe formed on the pipe to be joined which has a widened end part. An outer pipe in the pipe connector is dimensioned to receive the inner pipe and has an undercut formed therein to receive the widened end part. A sleeve is mounted inside the inner pipe with a close tolerance so as to be substantially free from play. The sleeve has a widened wedge-shaped portion which engages the inner pipe internally. As a result, the inner pipe is retained between the undercuts and the wedge-shaped portion of the sleeve.

A foot pedal of one piece construction is formed from a generally elongated member. An aperture is defined by a collar at one end of the elongated member. The inner surface of the collar acts as a bearing surface. At the opposite end of the elongated member, a generally planar surface defines a plate which can be foot actuated. A twisted portion of the elongated member connects the apertured end of the member with the plate. In one embodiment, a connector protrudes from the elongated member in the vicinity of the twisted portion. In another embodiment, the elongated member is made of aluminum and the connector is made of steel alloy.
