In a DC impedance measurement routine for a battery the current load from a source is initially set to a low setting. The system waits for a set time in this state for the voltage readings to stabilize. Once the voltage is stable at the low current setting, the current setting is changed to a high value and the voltage is read quickly. Then the current load is set back to the low setting immediately after the reading is made. Several consecutive measurements are performed by repeating the steps above. A DC impedance measurement system that can be used to carry out the measurement routine. A multi-battery system can be monitored via a DC impedance measurement system and the routine being performed on each battery.

Battery monitor system

A current sensor includes a two-piece ferromagnetic core clamped together over a wire to be measured by a housing to form a ferromagnetic cylinder that concentrates the magnetic flux surrounding the electrical wire to be measured. By directing the magnetic flux to a Hall effect sensor, the current can be measured in the wire without cutting or modifying the wire.

Current sensor and battery current monitoring system

A smart power storage and distribution system for buildings includes an energy storage device included in an uninterruptible power system (UPS). A system controller controls charging of the energy storage system via one or both of conventional grid power and/or the alternative power. The system controller also operates a plurality of electrical switches to switch the building's power source between power from the utility grid and/or from the energy storage system. The controller also communicates with smart outlets within the building to selectively turn the power on/off to each smart outlet according to programmed logic or remote commands from a user. Various types of data can be monitored throughout the house/building and transmitted to the cloud. The source of electrical power to the building, or to charge the UPS, can be selectively switched to correspond to the most advantageous electrical grid monetary rates.

Smart home power system

A battery system includes a cell group in a lead-acid battery power system (battery system A) coupled to a battery power system (battery system B) having a different chemistry, such as lithium ion-based battery. Each battery system, A and B, are interconnected at specific cathode and anode contacts chosen based on the voltages range present at those points to prevent damage to the different battery systems. The worst-case voltage range of the battery system A at the connection points is higher than the worst case voltage range of battery system B. The battery system includes a battery management system (BMS) that monitors voltages at each cell level and that monitors current at the pack level. The BMS can also be configured to control conductivity between packs A and B, and to protect battery systems A and B from going out of normal operating conditions.

Multi-chemistry battery pack system

An apparatus for actively balancing a cell group in a battery power system comprises a main cell unit further comprising a first local cell module and a second local cell module in parallel creating a parallel cell module. The main cell unit is electrically coupled to a system control unit and the system control unit is communicatively coupled to the first local cell module and the second local cell module. A compensation cell and a power switch unit is communicatively connected to the main cell unit and communicatively connected to the system control unit. The compensation cell and the power switch unit further comprise a plurality of compensation cells. The plurality of compensation cells is paired with the parallel cell module to become the cell group with optimized total capacity.

Proactive and highly efficient active balance apparatus for a battery power system

When a processor in a computer system is placed in a low power mode, power consumption of the computer system may be further reduced by reducing power consumption of one or more components of a memory coupled to the processor and by reducing power consumption of one or more components of a controller device coupled to the memory. The processor and the controller device may share the memory.

Power/performance optimized memory controller considering processor power states

Portable system arrangements having dual high-level-/low-level-processor modes implemented with a high-level processor and a low level processor. The two processors afford the combined advantages of both a portable computer and a personal organizer. The portable computer can be constructed such that the apparatus can be powered into a first mode of operation which provides functions/operations similar to the portable computer running high-level programs on the high-level processor, and the apparatus can be powered into a second mode of operation which provides functions/operations similar to the personal organizer running low-level programs on the low-level processor. The two processors can share memory and other peripherals.
