The present application relates to the field of single-domain antibodies (also called nanobodies), more particularly single-domain antibodies against SOD1 protein isoforms. It also relates to the use of these nanobodies in medicine. Accordingly, methods to treat a disease using these nanobodies are provided herein. The single-domain antibodies are particularly envisaged for treatment of ALS.

Single domain antibodies against SOD1 and their use in medicine

The disclosure relates to diseases in the peripheral nervous system, particularly hereditary neuropathies, such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease. It is shown that this disease is associated with decreased acetylated tubulin levels, which can be overcome by inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACs). Using HDAC inhibitors, it is shown herein that the symptoms of the CMT phenotype can be overcome both in vitro and in vivo. Also provided herein are two different mouse models of CMT disease.

HDAC inhibitors to treat charcot-marie-tooth disease

The present application relates to the field of motor neuron diseases, most particularly to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and spinomuscular atrophy. Provided herein are strategies to improve symptoms and increase survival in patients with these axonopathies by inhibiting signaling mediated by the EphA4 ephrin receptor.
