A heat sink is provided having at least one receiving section configured for thermal coupling to at least one lighting module. The heat sink includes at least two connection sections on opposite sides of the at least one receiving section. Each of the at least two connection sections includes at least one reference pin protruding at least partially from a first surface of the at least one connection section and at least one alignment recess protruding into the first surface of the at least one connection section such that the heat sink is configured for thermal coupling to another heat sink via the at least two connection sections.

Dual function lighting device

A light-emitting device (LED) module is described. The LED module includes a heatsink, at least one LED on a top surface of the heatsink, and mounting features protruding from the top surface of the heat sink for alignment with an optical component. A thermally insulating material is adjacent at least portions of the mounting features that would otherwise be in contact with the optical component when mounted.

An LED module is described herein. The LED module includes a heatsink with an LED mounting area and a referencing part that is separate from the heatsink. The referencing part is fixed to the heatsink and includes an LED alignment feature and an optical component alignment feature. At least one LED is provided on the LED mounting area of the heatsink and aligned with the LED alignment feature of the referencing part.

A heat sink, lighting device and method of manufacture are described. A heat sink includes at least one sheet metal having a first surface and a second surface, at least one first reference pin extending at least in part from the first surface, and at least one second reference pin extending at least in part from the second surface and located within a diameter of, and concentrically with, the at least one first reference pin. The diameter of the at least one first reference pin being larger than a diameter of the at least one second reference pin.
