Sheet item stacking apparatus wherein an eccentric drive oscillating articulated arm carries a friction wheel at one end, and wherein an angularly disposed cross link pivoted at one end to the arm and at the opposite end to a fixed support causes the oscillating arm to move both forwardly and rearwardly as well as from side to side effective to edge align incoming sheet items within an operably associated item hopper from which the items are 'front' removable.

Continuous sheet item delaminating apparatus for electrographic drum printing/copying devices including a relatively flat horizontal coupler member having an upstanding vertical attachment portion and a u-shaped portion normal thereto. A plurality of curved, knife edged item picker fingers are mounted between the parallel legs of the u-shaped portion. The vertical attachment portion is pivotally secured to a rotatable crank rotated by a pulley driven from an associated synchronizer. A rocker-idler arm is fixedly pivoted at one end and is coupled at the opposite end to the coupler member such that rotation of the crank causes the picker fingers to follow a four bar coupler curve toward and away from the sheet item effective to lift the forward edge of the item off the drum and permit the item to fall by gravity onto a safe area for further handling.

A rotary, self contained, unitary, modular detack mechanism for cantilever pivotal mounting wherein an epicyclic gear assembly operably connected to a continuously rotating source of motion is caused to advance a portion of adhesive material from a supply to a take-up receptacle over a peripheral projection on the mechanism in timed synchronism with a solenoid actuated cam follower effective to rotate the mechanism concurrently raising and lowering the same into momentary contact with and being detacked, stripper members straddling the mechanism strip the item from the adhesive.

Non-impact offset printing apparatus providing repeatable top-to-bottom registration of printed matter transferred to cut sheet paper fed in the 'portrait' direction by means of a timer-interposer mechanism which contacts the leading edge of each incoming sheet and times the entry of the sheet into the transfer point adjacent to the rim of the offset non-impact rotary printing apparatus effectively creating positive and accurate registration of all four margins of printed matter on each page.

A modular high speed printing system for printing alphabetic and numerical information upon individual items or documents fed individually or in series through the modules. A feeder module performs accounting functions as to the number of documents processed, provides multiple or single mode document feeding and is adjustable to accommodate different size documents. The system also includes one or more printing modules for printing machine readable repetitive data, machine readable consecutive data, repetitive alphanumeric information and consecutive numeric information. A document receiver module adjustable to different size forms is also provided. The printing modules employ common document drive systems including an adjustable document end stop to permit horizontal placement of the information on the document. Vertical positioning of the information on the document is accomplished by means of adjusting the print mechanisms. The individual modules can be selected for operation in active or bypass modes and single cycle or flow feeding modes.

Modular high speed printing system

An indexing rotary actuator for applying the torque of a rotatable pivot arm to rotate a member between plural index positions. The forward stroke of the pivot arm drives a slider crank linkage through a four bar linkage to unlock the rotatable member and rotate the member to its next index position. On the return stroke of the pivot arm a spring biased locking arm on the rotatable member is interlocked with the actuator to lock the rotatable member in the index position. Interlock switches are provided to indicate when a rotated member is in a valid index position.

Bursting apparatus for continuous forms having modular guiding, trimming, bursting, and decollating units. A folding forms tray is provided to hold forms to be burst. Paper feeding and guiding is accomplished by the use of laterally adjustable curved, flanged guide means coacting with spring loaded hold-downs. Margin trim cutters and a center slitter are also provided. Forms width and margin trim adjustments are readily accomplished through the use of novel leaf-spring clamping means coacting with transverse guiding means. The bursting unit has fixed high speed rollers and movable low speed rollers with a bursting blade having plural arcuately shaped bursting areas attached thereto. The low speed rollers are mounted on a movable carriage which is adjustably spaced from the fixed high speed rollers by means of two parallel threaded rods. Annular grooves are provided in both the low and high speed rollers to permit straight through wire-form guides to direct the forms continuously through the bursting section and thence to a stacking unit. Further, the low speed and high speed rollers are tilted away from each other to cause a more uniform bursting action and to ensure that the burst forms are ejected downward toward the stacking unit. A compact folding shingling stacker or tray stacker is described which may be readily attached to the fixed high speed roller unit. In addition, decollator, carbon take-up, refold bin, and trim bin units are described.

Bursting apparatus for continuous forms

Disclosed is a label or patch overlay dispensing apparatus having a storage reel for carrying a supply tape of adhesive overlays, a feed throat for receiving a document to which an overlay is to be attached and a contact for sensing a document in the feed throat and for causing the advancement of the document to a label attaching position. The device is responsive to the receipt of the document in the overlay attaching position for releasing an overlay or patch for attachment to the document and a pressure bonder for attaching the label is activated when the overlay is removed from the supply roll. As the overlay is attached the document is concurrently ejected from the device.

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for stuffing ribbons in a cartridge including a cartridge base receiver plate, a cam guided threader, and a measured length stuffer. A lid applier clamps the lid on the base of the cartridge and the cartridge is ejected from the apparatus for sealing the ribbon in a continuous loop.
