A tool for use in joining wire pairs via wire connector assemblies such as those utilized in telecommunications includes a housing and a force applicator connected to a T-bar for applying force to a wire connector assembly. A wire connector holder is provided which receives the wire connector assemblies to be connected along with the wire pairs. A pivotal wire guide is provided on one side of the wire connector holder which allows easy removal of the wires and connectors after the connection is made. An adjustable gauge wire guide is provided on the other side of the wire connector holder which accommodates different gauges of wire. The force applicator includes a removable spacer which adjusts the stroke of the force applicator to accommodate stacks having more than one connector assembly in the wire connector holder.

A fiber optic splice closure assembly has a generally elongate casing having two generally parallel side walls, first and second end walls and a generally planar base, the side walls and end walls extending substantially perpendicular to the base. The optical fiber splice tray may include a combination of one or more: lateral pivot assemblies; longitudinal hinge assemblies; alignment bosses; buffer tube receiving channels having a buffer tube retainer; insert retention socket and insert; splice block; tier bracket hinge assembly and interlocking assembly to assist in aligning and securing a plurality of such splice trays together and to secure buffer tubes within the splice tray and assist in optical fiber dressing within the splice tray.

A lightweight, economical, reliable and adaptable tool for use in joining wire connector assemblies such as those utilized in telecommunications includes a base member including a housing and a cam mechanism with a T-bar pivotally connected with a cam mechanism. Removable wire connector holders are provided which can be interchanged on the base member and force applicators for use with particular wire connectors can be applied to the T-bar. By providing interchangeability for the wire connector holders and the force applicators, the disclosed tool is capable of being utilized with a variety of industry standard wire connector assemblies without requiring multiple tools. In addition, the tool is formed utilizing a simplified construction and is made from materials which reduce the weight, increase the reliability and reduce the cost thereof.
