There are provided PVP-PLA block copolymers as defined in Formula (1): I wherein, x is an initiator alcohol having a boiling point greater than I 45° C., n is, on average, from 20 and 40, and m is, on average, from 10 and 40, wherein the block copolymers have a number average molecular weight (Mn) of at least 3000 Da. Polymers demonstrating flexibility in formulating multiple low solubility active pharmaceutical ingredients (APis) are described. Liquid and dry pharmaceutical formulations comprising an API are described, along with delivery methods, uses, and kits. APis may include, e.g. 11urbiprofon, celecoxib, acetaminophen, or propofol. Also provided is a method of synthesizing the PVP-PLA block copolymers by (i) initiating polymerization of D,L-Lactide from the initiator alcohol x to form poly(lactic acid), adding a xanthate to form a PLA macroinitiator, and polymerizing NVP onto the PLA macroinitiator, by controlled polymerization, to form the block copolymer compound of Formula (I).

Non-ionic PVP-PLA block copolymers and liquid pharmaceutical compositions derived therefrom

There are provided PVP-PLA block copolymers as defined in Formula (I): I wherein, x is an initiator alcohol having a boiling point greater than 145&#xb0; C., n is, on average, from 20 and 40, and m is, on average, from 10 and 40, wherein the block copolymers have a number average molecular weight (M) of at least 3000 Da. Polymers demonstrating flexibility in formulating multiple low-solubility active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are described. Liquid and dry pharmaceutical formulations comprising an API are described, along with delivery methods, uses, and kits. APIs may include, e.g. flurbiprofen, celecoxib, acetaminophen, or propofol. Also provided is a method of synthesizing the PVP-PLA block copolymers by (i) initiating polymerization of D,L-Lactide from the initiator alcohol x to form poly(lactic acid), adding a xanthate to form a PLA macroinitiator, and polymerizing NVP onto the PLA macroinitiator, by controlled polymerization, to form the block copolymer compound of Formula (I).

There are provided thermoregulatory coatings for paper comprising a nano structured phase change material (PCM) and a protective layer, the PCM including a first agent that undergoes an endothermic phase transition at a desired temperature and a second agent that assists in maintaining a nano structure, and the protective layer providing a basecoat, a top-coat, or both. There are also provided coated papers and articles comprising such coatings, and methods for preparation thereof. Coated papers and articles provided herein have a wide range of application, for example in packaging or transport of temperature-sensitive materials.

Thermoregulatory coatings for paper

The present disclosure relates generally to sol-gel polymer composites that comprise chitosan, a hydrophilic polymer, a gelation agent, and optional additional ingredients in a suitable medium. Advantageously, the sol-gel polymer composite can form a durable seal or strong solid in response to one or more physiological stimulus. The disclosure further relates to medical and veterinary uses of the composite, particularly, methods and delivery systems for reducing or preventing the incidence of a mammary disorder in a dairy animal. More particularly, the disclosure includes methods and sol-gel polymer composite compositions for creating a physical barrier on the teat surface or in the teat canal or cistern of a non-human animal for prophylactic treatment of mammary disorders such as mastitis wherein the sol-gel polymer creates a seal in response to one or more physiological stimulus.
