In a bearing for a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine having a crankcase including a bearing base portion with a bearing cover mounted thereon and both the bearing base portion and the bearing cover consisting of a light metal alloy, the bearing cover has removably mounted therein, adjacent the crankshaft, an insert consisting of a bearing material which has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than the light metal alloy of which the base bearing portion and the bearing cover consist.

Crankshaft bearing for an internal combustion engine

A cast cylinder head for an internal-combustion engine, in which the charge cycle ducts have a fluctuating duct offset relative to the valve opening caused by the casting technique. Proximate the opening, the charge cycle ducts are provided with a machining allowance which increases toward the duct end and are machined there in a cutting manner so that the interior surface of the charge cycle ducts changes in each case without an offset into the valve opening. In order to achieve a simple tool guiding and nevertheless a machining which is advantageous to the flow, a compensating groove is arranged in the machining allowance of the charge cycle ducts which has a flat V-shaped cross-section and extends in the circumferential direction, specifically--relative to the flow direction--at least in the area of a convex course of the duct wall. The groove flanks have a convex cross-section and are curved to be as free of flow separations as possible. The compensating groove extends at a distance above the upper edge of the valve seat ring which corresponds to approximately 20 to 30% of the inside diameter of the valve opening. The groove base is situated outside the ideal course of the duct surface. The compensating groove extends at least approximately in a plane which is situated approximately at a right angle relative to the duct center line. The depth of the groove measured to the duct tangent corresponds approximately to the maximal core offset.

Cylinder head for internal-combustion engines

In a venting arrangement for an internal combustion engine including a crankcase with a cylinder block, a cylinder head mounted on the cylinder block, a cylinder head cover mounted onto the cylinder head, and an oil separator integrally formed with the cylinder head cover, the oil droplets contained in the vent gases are separated from the vent gases as the vent gases are drawn through the oil separator and the oil-free vent gases are then supplied to the engine air intake duct. The oil is collected and drained by way of a siphon consisting of a cavity formed in the cylinder head and a drain pipe extending from the oil separator in the cylinder head cover into the cavity which, at its bottom, includes a bore through which a cylinder head bolt extends for mounting the cylinder head onto the cylinder block.

Venting arrangement for an internal combustion engine

In a crankcase venting system for an internal combustion engine having an engine intake duct including a throttle valve, a partial load venting line extending from the engine to the intake duct downstream of the throttle valve and including a vent line throttle and a full load venting line connected to the engine and leading to the intake duct upstream of the throttle valve, an aspiration line extends between the intake duct upstream of the throttle valve and the partial load venting line for controlling the vacuum generated in the partial load venting line.

In a venting arrangement with integrated oil separator for venting gases from the crankcase of an internal combustion engine having a cylinder head with a cylinder head cover, the cylinder head cover includes integrally formed therewith a housing divided into a raw gas space receiving vent gases from the engine crankcase and having an exit opening directed toward the cylinder head and a purified gas space having an inlet opening disposed adjacent the exit opening of the raw gas space and both openings are disposed above a collection space which is formed in the cylinder head and in which the raw gas flow from the raw gas space is reversed and redirected into the purified gas space whereby the oil droplets are separated from the vent gas and collected in the collection space to be returned to the engine crankcase.

In a valve actuating system for a multicylinder internal combustion engine having a camshaft supported in bearing pedestals on the cylinder head of the engine with rocker arms pivotally supported by rocker arm support shafts also mounted on the bearing pedestals and coupling levers arranged adjacent at least some of the rocker arms and including hydraulically operable coupling devices for engagement with the adjacent rocker arms, at least one of the bearing pedestals includes a pressure control space to which oil under pressure is supplied and the rocker arm support shafts have internal fluid flow passages in communication with the pressure control space and with the coupling devices so that pressurized fluid can be admitted to the coupling devices under the control of valve means disposed in the bearing pedestal.

Valve actuating system for a multicylinder internal combustion engine

An adjustable drive connection between an engine crankshaft and engine camshaft is provided by an electric motor connected to the camshaft via planetary gearing to cause relative rotation of an adjusting carrier in relation to a flanged shaft connected firmly to a camshaft. The carrier is fastened to this flanged shaft by means of a thread, so that its relative rotation with respect to the flange shaft is converted into an axial shafting of the carrier along the flange. An actuating element arranged on the carrier is likewise shifted axially. The axial shifting of the actuating element is converted into a relative rotation of the flanged shaft and a chain-wheel carrier driven by a crankshaft via helical teeth on the actuating element.
