The processing conveyer device () has a plurality of receiving elements () that are arranged one behind the other and are driven in a circulatory direction, said elements having a support element and a base element for supporting the printing products laterally and from below, in addition to a saddle-type bearing element for receiving folded printing products astride said element. Feed stations () are arranged along the circulatory track () of the receiving elements (). A respective opening device, which can be activated and deactivated, is allocated to said feed stations, for selectively opening the folded printing products () that are to be fed by the receiving elements. The feed stations () can selectively introduce printing products () into the receiving elements () or can place folded printing products (), which have been opened, astride the bearing element. An apparatus for transforming an overlapping stack of flexible flat objects, such as printed products, arriving on a first conveyor into an overlapping formation on a second conveyor which is positioned downstream of the first conveyor. A displacement element is guided to reciprocate on a guide rail and has a hook which acts to engage and displace each of the objects from the first conveyor into an active region of the second conveyor. The second conveyor is driven at a conveying speed which is greater than that of the first conveyor. Also, the speed of the displacement element in the direction of conveyance is greater than the conveying speed of the first conveyor, and thus the objects are fed to the second conveyor separately and at an increased spacing.

Device for transforming an overlapping stack of objects into an overlapping arrangement

An apparatus for feeding sheet-like articles, such as newspapers, periodicals, and inserts therefor, from a vertical stack of the articles. The stack is supported on a fixed rest , and a sucker arrangement and a pushing away unit are mounted on a load bearing structure which is supported so as to float with the height of the stack. The sucker arrangement includes a pair of suction heads which are mounted for movement between a lowered extended position and a raised retracted position, and the suction heads have suction openings which are permanently connected to a source of negative pressure. In operation, the suction heads engage the uppermost one of the articles in the stack, which closes the suction openings and causes the suction heads and uppermost article to be lifted. The pushing away unit then engages and laterally moves the article away from the suction heads. The suction openings are thereby opened and the heads are then biased to their extended positions in engagement with the next article in the stack. The sequence is then repeated.

An apparatus for rotating rectangular flat articles that have been accumulated in an imbricated formation on and are moving in a conveying direction along a belt conveyor. A stop is arranged in the movement path of the products, on one side relative to the central axis of the incoming imbricated formation. A roller is located on the other side relative to the central axis, the axis of rotation for which extends at a right angle to the conveying direction of the product and is tangent to the stop. The apparatus prevents damage to the products and insures rotation of the products that have been accumulated in imbricated formation.

The lifted product is fed into the active range of a pushing arrangement that is driven in synchronism with the suction arrangement. The multi-sheet, folded printed product arranged on the supporting member is penetrated by a penetration tool, from the direction of a supporting member. A pressure-exerting element acts on the printed product with a lateral compressive force. This results in a widening of the through-passage produced through the printed product. Upon withdrawal into the rest position of the penetration tool, adhesive present on the surface of the penetration tool is transferred onto the sheets in the through-passage. Once the lateral compressive force has been eliminated, the through-passage closes, which results in good distribution of the adhesive and reliable adhesive bonding.

By a first conveying device printing products are fed in an imbricated formation (S), in which each printing product rests on the following one, the fold edge of the folded products forming the trailing edge. The printing products are pushed into an intermediate stack from below. The respectively uppermost product of this intermediate stack is seized in the region of the fold edge by at least one sucker of a sucker arrangement, raised upward and brought into the conveying region (F) of a second conveying device. The latter has individually controllable grippers which are arranged at regular intervals, circulate along a closed path, seize the fold edges delivered by the sucker arrangement and convey away the printing products thus seized. By forming an intermediate stack, from which the printing products are then raised by the sucker arrangement at the desired rate and fed to the grippers, even imbricated formations (S) occurring with irregularities can be processed satisfactorily.

A process and apparatus for collecting and stapling printed products is provided. A self-enclosed track of travel for stapling heads extends around a collector drum having a plurality of supports. A stapling head is assigned to each support. The stapling heads rotate mutually synchronously about the axis of rotation of the drum. While running past a wire section dispenser, each stapling head accepts a wire section from which a staple is formed in a predetermined first region. In a second region, the staple is brought onto the side of the stapling heads facing the supports. In a third region, the stapling heads are lowered onto the printed sheets, which are deposited onto the supports, and stapled together.

Folded printed products, held at the fold thereof by clamps, are fed to an opening device. This opening device comprises grippers, each gripper having a stationary gripper jaw and a movable gripper jaw which delimit a slide gap in the closed position of the movable gripper jaw. Along this slide gap there is displaceable a pusher member for the purpose of pushing out of the slide gap the printed product gripped at its open-edge region by the respective gripper. The pusher member thereby acts upon a marginal lap of a first product portion which protrudes beyond the other or second product portion. By virtue of the pre-bending of the printed products, the second product portion is entrained during pushing action at the first product portion and, as a beneficial result of such bending, lifts off from the first product portion upon leaving the slide gap, the marginal lap of the first product portion still being guided in the slide gap.
