A method for orienting a feeler of an apparatus for testing gear flank profiles and flank lines of gear wheels is disclosed, in which the feeler is successively inserted, in two adjacent positions, into an accurately made gap element located on the gear wheel and from the thus ascertained values the location of the point of intersection of the wheel axis with the measuring plane is ascertained, optionally by means of a computer. The gap element, embodied as an orientation gap mounted on the gear wheel, that is approached by the feeler in the first position is rotated with the gear wheel into a second position, and there the feeler, embodied solely by the measuring feeler, is inserted into the same orientation gap. Therefore measurements are made by use of the same orientation gap and the same feeler at two different locations.

Method and apparatus for orienting a feeler of a gear testing apparatus

A transportable apparatus for testing the tooth flank profile and tooth flank lines (tooth angle) of gear wheels, in particular gear wheels of large diameter. With this apparatus, prior to the measuring operation, the positioning of the apparatus at the gear wheel to be tested can be carried out simultaneously with the aid of an orientation scanner, and the selection of the tooth gaps least associated with error is simultaneously effected by moving the orientation sensor into various tooth gaps in preparation for the measuring operation and with the aid of a computer ascertaining the measured-value deviations from one another of the various tooth gaps that are entered.

Apparatus for testing gear wheel tooth flank profile and tooth flank

An automatic apparatus for testing the spacing of gear teeth in a gear wheel is disclosed, in which the spacing testing is performed for both the left and right flanks of the teeth in a single gear revolution, and the switchover or deflection of the two measuring feelers from one flank to the other against fixed stops is avoided, thereby preventing shocks and vibrations in that measuring position that could produce incorrect measurements.

Automatic gear testing apparatus

An automatic testing apparatus is described for testing the circumferential spacing of gears, for testing deviations in tooth thickness and tooth gaps as well as deviations in gear concentricity, in which with a single revolution of the gear the spacing testing is effected for both the right and the left flanks of the wheel and the values for the gear concentricity deviations, tooth thickness deviations, and tooth gap deviations are preferably ascertained simultaneously, so that a separate measurement apparatus is not required for that purpose.

An automatic testing apparatus is proposed for testing the circular spacing of gears and, in a further development, for simultaneously testing the deviations in gear concentricity, tooth thickness and tooth gap. The testing of circular spacing is accomplished in only one revolution simultaneously for both the right and left tooth flanks of the gear, and the measurement values thus obtained can be used as well for ascertaining the deviations in gear concentricity, tooth thickness and tooth gaps.
