A signal processing apparatus () includes a power supply input (), a power supply connection () and a power supply output (). Signal processing apparatus having means for reducing the power consumption

A video recorder for playing video recordings recorded on magnetic tapes, these recordings being available with different playback qualities, and including a reproduction apparatus for scanning a magnetic tape and for supplying a playback signal; and a playback-signal processing apparatus for processing the playback signal and including at least one controllable signal-influencing stage for controllably influencing at least one component (luminance signal Y) of the playback signal, and an entry device for cooperating with the video recorder and providing entry of characteristic information which characterizes different playback qualities of video recordings; and a control apparatus for generating control information corresponding to the characteristic information. The at least one controllable signal-influencing stage is controlled depending on the control information.

Video recorder having playback-signal processing means adaptable to different playback qualities of video recordings

A video recorder, includes: a filter for performing a comb-filtering operation and supplying a comb-filtered component of a video signal; controllable influencing apparatus for terminating the output of the comb-filtered component and activating instead, the propagation of the non-filtered component; transition detection apparatus for detecting a vertically extending transition and supplying characteristic information upon detection of such a transition; control information generating apparatus, arranged between the transtion detection apparatus and the influencing apparatus, for generating control information enabling the termination of the output of the comb-filtered component and the activation of the propagation of the non-filtered component for a period of time which is longer than possible by means of the characteristic information.
