Embodiments presented herein provide techniques for generating analytical graphs that display a visualization of multiple transaction objects processed concurrently in a computer system. An object lifecycle analysis tool identifies one or more transaction objects having a specified identifier. Each transaction object corresponds to an instance of a common transaction having been processed. The analysis tool retrieves transition state information corresponding to each transaction object and sorts the transition state information in chronological order. The analysis tool generates a graph based on the sorted transition state information. The generated graph allows a user to easily identify performance issues (e.g., concurrency bottlenecks) in a transaction management system.

Object lifecycle analysis tool

A peripheral interface device that is adaptable into a computer system and which provides a communication interface for a plurality of external devices. The peripheral interface device comprises: a plurality of transfer control logic (TCL) modules, wherein each TCL module provides a dedicated interface for an associated one of the external devices, and wherein multiple TCL modules can communicate in parallel with their associated external devices; and a dual port memory (DPM) device that is in communication with an input/output bus of the computer system, wherein the DPM device can selectively communicate with each of the plurality of TCL modules.

Peripheral interface system having dedicated communication channels

An adapter card which includes a non volatile memory for containing configuration parameters for establishing one of a plurality of configurations for the adapter card, as well as a pair of mapping bits which define the selected configuration. A default configuration is provided which places the adapter card in the legacy configuration during an initial system power up. The default mode also enables the adapter card to listen for a plug and play initialization key sequence, and switch the card configuration to a plug and play configuration. A companion utilities program permits access to the EEPROM for establishing a new set of configuration parameters in the EEPROM, and to change the mapping bits.

Computing system adapter card for supporting legacy and plug and play configurations

A power adapter for powering a remote device for use with a portable computer. The power adapter has a first plug for connecting to a data port of the portable computer and for sourcing power from the data port. Also provided is a power converter electrically connected to the first plug for regulating the sourced power from the data port and outputting a power requirement to the remote device. Lastly, a second plug electrically connected to the power converter for connection to the remote device and delivery of the outputted power requirement thereto is provided. Also provided is a portable computer system which utilizes the power adapter of the present invention. The portable computer system comprises a portable computer having a data port, a remote device for use with the portable computer, and the power adapter of the present invention for powering the remote device through the data port. In a preferred embodiment of the power adapter, the remote device is a cordless telephone transceiver and the power is sourced from a mouse port of the portable computer.

Adapter card system including for supporting multiple configurations

A controller and a properly equipped peripheral device of a computer system easily exchange messages having a compressed data format. Both the controller and the peripheral device are configured to communicate using a predefined basic command set employing a predefined communications format. The controller first verifies that the peripheral device supports a second predefined communications format in addition to the first predefined communications format. Compared to the first format, the second format utilizes messages with greater compression, i.e., an optimized bit stream ('OBS'). The controller next sends the peripheral device a number of commands, including a command of the basic command set accompanied by an OBS enable code. In the case of a write operation, the controller also sends the peripheral device an encoded dataset having the second predefined communications format and representing an underlying unencoded dataset. Although the basic command alone would alert the peripheral device to the transmission of uncompressed data, the presence of the OBS enable code signals a compressed dataset. The peripheral device receives the encoded dataset and, resulting from the received OBS enable code and the command of the basic command set, processes the encoded dataset to obtain the unencoded dataset. In the case of a read operation, the controller receives an encoded dataset, in the second predefined format, from the peripheral device.
