A method for managing network traffic on a portable communication device including a processor, a memory, and a plurality of network interfaces configured to connect to a plurality of networks includes: processing network traffic of an application running on the processor via a first network of the plurality of networks, the first network being specified as a primary network by an operating system running on the processor; monitoring a plurality of network status information associated with the first network; detecting a problem of the first network when one or more parameters of the received network status information is outside of one or more threshold values; in response to detecting the problem in the first network, selecting a second network of the plurality of networks as the primary network; and processing the network traffic via the second network as the updated primary network.

The system includes the portable communication device and a nonvolatile storage device coupled to the processor and storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to execute the steps of the method.

System and method of adaptive rate control and traffic management

A system and method for dynamic caching of content of sites accessed over a network by a user is provided. The system includes a processor, a first storage device for maintaining cache accounts for storing the content of the sites accessed over the network by the user based on activity over the network by the user with the sites, a second storage device for storing statistics, and a non-transitory physical medium. The medium has instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to gather statistics on suitability of the sites for caching based on the network activity, store the caching suitability statistics on the second storage device, and dynamically create, delete, or resize the cache accounts based on the caching suitability statistics.

Dynamic cache allocation and network management

A client-based computer system configured to communicate with a remote server through a network and to provide access to content or services provided by the server is provided. The system includes a processor, a storage device, a client-side cache dedicated to a set of resources specified by a configuration, and a caching manager to automatically manage the cache as directed by the configuration. The client-side cache is directed by the configuration to transparently intercept a request for one of the resources from a client application to the server, and to automatically determine when to send the request to and provide a response from the server over the network to appear to the client application as though the client application sent the request to and received the response from the server.

System and method for managing dedicated caches

A client-based computer system adapted to communicate with a remote server through a network and to provide access to content or services provided by the server. The system includes a storage device and a cache. The cache is adapted to communicate with the server over the network, to intercept a request from the client to the server, and to store responses from the server on the storage device. The cache is further adapted to automatically determine when to send the request to the server over the network. The cache is still further adapted to provide a response, including from the responses stored on the storage device based upon the request, to appear as through the server provided the response. The system may also include a crawler. The crawler is adapted to operate in conjunction with the cache to cause requests to be sent to the server over the network.

System and method for providing virtual web access

An on-line value bearing item (VBI) printing system that includes one or more cryptographic modules and a central database is disclosed. The cryptographic modules are capable of implementing the USPS Information Based Indicia Program Postal Security Device Performance Criteria and other required VBI standards. The modules encipher the information stored in the central database for all of the on-line VBI system customers and are capable of preventing access to the database by unauthorized users. Additionally, the cryptographic module is capable of preventing unauthorized and undetected modification, including the unauthorized modification, substitution, insertion, and deletion of VBI related data and cryptographically critical security parameters.

The method includes requesting a memory chunk for storing metadata; wherein a data processing agent operating in a storage platform requests the memory chunk and a centralized metadata controller for the plurality of storage platforms receives the request for the memory chunk; determining the memory chunk size and allocating the memory chunk from a pool of memory chunks; and assigning the allocated memory chunk to a virtualization mapping object.
